My fears on ping are confirmed(?).

As someone who is, compared to those playing for seasons past, just in their infancy of the game, I've been playing this game for a good 6 or 7 months now, and two weeks ago and with a usual 55 mbps, I've started having MASSIVE, and I mean MASSIVE ping spikes (though my router DC's me at 500, I've been getting thousands). This has never happened to me before, not even once until just two weeks ago or so. I've had a sneaking suspicion that it was the game client that was the problem, considering this has happened at least once per game, every game, every day that I've played for the past few weeks.

However, I changed my connection channel on my router and the issue was solved! ... but only for a game or two. So, at that point I gave myself the benefit of the doubt and assumed that my internet was the problem; So I start playing on my hotspot on my phone today. Also keep in mind that my hotspot is a private connection, no other connected devices to cause traffic. Before anyone jumps to any other conclusions on that, I commonly play first person shooters and mmo's and even watch youtube through my computer using my hotspot. The connection is reliable.

Through using my hotspot, my ping was only slightly higher than normal, but no ping spikes for a couple of games, until, just last game, my ping skyrockets to a 5 THOUSAND mbps, even when my router disconnects me at 500. Even when using my most reliable source of internet connection, I'm having major issues with my ping and I'm noticing a number of other people in my games are disconnecting at random or extremely laggy.

I don't know what anyone else has to say about this but any input would be much appreciated.

Anything else open in the background? Do you only play at specific times of day? Is your anti virus or Windows update schedule to auto start at the time you are having spikes? Certain websites for me will cause ping spikes if I leave them open during a game. Lolskill.net is the worst offender for me in that regard. When was the last time you had your system checked for malware?

When you run a speed test at speedtest.net what Is the result? Do you get the same result testing on other servers? Do you play on Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection?

If you check your task manager do you see any unusual spikes in cpu usage during the lag spike? If you do, then a process on your pc is causing the issue, most likely some sort of virus or malware.
