So has anyone noticed that Taric and Fiddle haven't really had an update (a real update not just minor changes :P) in a couple of years?
This is a really weak point to make in regards to Taric, as he did revive a rework after (his complete dominance) at the very end of season 2.
There are a lot of champions in the game that have just have seen much less attention over the years.
Now I am not saying they are unplayable, but their abilities are basic and boring at times. I mean all you really do with
is stack armor and press e (stun) lol.
There's 100+ champions in the game.
Some of them should cater to play-styles you don't personally like, as chances are - others can appreciate those styles.
I personally can't stand Lee Sin's play style, but I can appreciate a lot of people really do like his kit and style very much.
And with Taric's explosions, armor shred, and rewarded heal with auto-attacking: there's more to Taric's kit and how to utilize him than 1 skill.
I mean it's not so much fiddlesticks on the rudimentary part it just feels like they are off-meta and out of sync and popularity with the other champions.
The majority of champions in the game are going to be unpopular. Popularity doesn't work in a way where everyone gets to be popular, so that's a moot point.
Due to how meta-games work in tandem with popularity, being off-meta isn't exactly a massive deal if it's just due to not being one of the top ~15 most popular champions as well, which is largely where Fiddlesticks and Taric are at the moment. Taric actually has a really solid win-rate as a top-lane pick ATM, and support Fiddlesticks has been picked up to varying success. Prior to the AP jungle item changes, Fiddlesticks was also an oppressively strong jungler - so it's not like either is unplayable in the current meta.
There issue is almost exclusively that they aren't one of the top ~15 meta-approved picks, both have the potential to be a top pick with, say, the repercussions of the marksman itemization change.
I think an update to these two champions would be great and create more interest in those seasoned Taric and Fiddle players. What do you guys think?
Visual update would be amazing for Taric, as he's been stuck with the same model since Beta: and his art style really doesn't match the current aesthetics of LoL. Especially with several old champions like Kayle, Ashe, Tryndamere, Tristana, Morganna, Nasus, Soraka, Heimerdinger, and more receiving very solid model updates. Even Anivia recieved one - and her original skin was pretty solid and arguably the best of the original 40 crowd.
Taric also has the worst skin selection of any of the original 40 champions LoL started with as far as I'm aware, being limited to a recolor green skin, 5th age, and Bloodstone. He hasn't had a new skin in years - so having a visual update would be really swanky if for no other reason than to free up new skin ideas for him.
As for gameplay update - with how Riot's reworked champions like Karma, Trundle, Cassiopeia, Fiora, and a few others - as well as there current handling of the Mordekaiser update, I'm more neutral to a rework than anything else.
They can go badly just as frequently as they can go well. And cases like Sion, Fiora, Karma, and Trundel - they've essentially deleted a past champion and completely replaced them with a different champion, which can be painful for their small crowd of committed followers.
