Can we please discuss the mechanics you are enforcing on mages riot?
A day or so ago I had made a thread, specifically discussing about artillery mages weakness and the lack of support. However now that i've been discussing with more players this seems to be a bigger issue than just this particular subclass. What i'm talking about is the definitive weakness you are setting mages up for. I understand some champions are supposed to be a counter to another champion and am completely fine with this aspect. However i'm not okay with us losing a competitive advantage we had due to itemization.
Primarily this revolves around champions that can go mid and build 1st class items with dual purposes, for instance lets say
(would use zed, but i'm sure i would earn some sort of negative response) builds
as his first item. Now what is the issue with this you ask? well firstly it creates a problem for the mage, he has one definitive issue being presented to himself before he even starts the matchup. His mana is what i'm discussing about (this may not effect all mages please keep in mind), however it does effect quite a vast majority. Left in this scenario the mage is already dealing with the need for spell pen and mana to keep up his trades. In this situation the mage is forced to go into mana as there first item, technically the jayce is already at an advantage. Having the reduction on incoming mage damage, the jayce should be able to out trade the mage in damage on every skirmish. This is even more pressing on Artillery mages where ap assasin can build
early and set individuals behind without really doing anything (yes, i'm aware it is being reworked).
In conclusion, perhaps mana pots may be something that may need to be looked at bringing back. You want to avoid the endless casting, but by doing so are enforcing mages to build certain items to sustain themselves. In result certain champions can take advantage of this situation building items that can serve defensively and offensively in their first tier.
