Why I Will Never Gank for You
People STRONGLY underestimate the power of counter-jungling. This does not apply to all junglers. Please read the final paragraph before down-voting, this is meant to be an educational thread. Let me lay down some facts:
1: There are 6 jungle camps total on each side of the map. Each provides an equal amount of EXP. 2: 4 of said jungle camps have 1 minute timers, 2 have 5 minute timers. 3: Every 5 minutes if you are on top of your shit you will capture 20 jungle camps w/o buffs, 22 w/ buffs. 4: If you take 1 camp from the jungler per minute, that is 5 camps. 5/20 = 25% of their total exp every 5 minutes. If the other jungler doesn't share buffs, that is 5/22, around 20%. This adds up.
When completely clean each camp from your jungle in Summoner's Rift gives you:
Crimson Raptor camp +68 Gold and +300 EXP Greater Murk Wolf camp +75 Gold and +303 EXP Ancient Krug camp +74 Gold and +300 EXP Gromp camp +62 Gold and +300 EXP Blue Sentinel camp +76 Gold and +300 EXP Red Brambleback camp +76 Gold and +300 EXP Every camp gives you +300 EXP (excluding Greater Murk WolfSquare.png Greater Murk Wolf camp that gives you +303 EXP) so doesn't matter the order you will end with the same EXP.

Sorry, the chart is whompy. But each camp gives ~75 gold. 1 kill = 300 gold. So 4 stolen jungle camps = 1 kill, 1200 exp.
You can see how with just taking 1 simple camp how much this effects the other jungler's exp gain. This is not taking into account how much gold they lost or your level advantage over them now if you are consistent in your counter-jungling efforts.
Laners expect junglers to constantly gank and have a presence during the laning phase. I agree junglers should have a presence, but that presence does not necessarily have to be in lane. Every time the other team's jungler ganks, make him pay. Follow him or take his jungle. There are laners such as Teemo or Urgot that are specifically played just to deny the other laners that normally occupy that position, well its the same in the jungle. Junglers that are great duelists and have fast clear times, such as Udyr, can have a significant impact on the game just by completely removing the other jungler from the game. Hell, force the other team's laners to help their jungler while your laner either 1) Gets to free farm, or 2) Follows them and force a teamfight. Either way, you are having a massive impact on the game and if you do the job of counter-jungling well you can turn the game into a 4v5.
You force the other jungler to not gank because he is now behind in levels and gold. You force the other jungler to farm their jungle to avoid getting too far behind. And you know what? Make them pay. You should have their jungle warded and you should know when every single damn camp of theirs is going to respawn. Using that information, take their camps. If the other jungler is at that camp, AWESOME! Woop their ass, steal their shit, make a grand escape.
Your laners should not feed the other laners. A laner should not feed in a 1v1 matchup. Feeding/snowballing occurs when a jungler invades a lane successfully. The only time a lane should ever be lost hard is when the jungler successfully ganks that lane. By counter-jungling, you are making the other jungler be put in a situation where he has to gank or fall behind. Now, the underleveled/starved jungler is going to try to force a gank to catch up. This gives you, the laner, a kill.
HOWEVER! You must have trust in your laners in order to do this. Let your team know of your intentions before you disappear. Don't disappear in the jungle if you don't trust your team to win their lanes. Don't continue to counter-jungle if the enemy jungler is successful is ganking your lanes. Your goal is to deny that jungler XP/Gold, if they are able to get it elsewhere by ganking then your strategy has failed and you need to help your lanes now. By counter-jungling, your focus is to take the other jungler out of the game and gain a significant gold/exp lead over them. If doing so is going to screw over your team, don't do it. If your team is ahead, fuck yeah go crazy in the jungle. Disappear!
EDIT: Wanted to add this chart I made as well. It basically shows the total amount of waves/camps required to hit certain levels. Basically, 1 jungle camp is worth a TINY bit more than a wave in exp.
