Let's compare to old runes and masteries.
Armor seals and mr glyphs were almost universally standard. The game was balanced around champs having these resistances. As anyone would have told you, NOT taking them in lane was considered a risky move, as you're now much squishier.
Now no one has them, and EVERYONE is forced to 'play risky' with no early mitigation.
If for the longest time this game has been balanced around a game where champs had base stats and you suddenly remove them, it would radically alter everything about the game. Early arm/magpen, snowballing, scaling comps being far less viable, etc.
The thing I really want to know is whether this topic is even being looked at with riot. I'm kinda surprised for the current pbe cycle there's absolutely nothing in place to slow down the snowballing happening from the loss of mitigation. Is this going to be happening in 8.1?
Winning feels unfulfilling, your enemy is helpless, you're snowballing stupidly hard. Losing feels atrocious, falling behind feels like a perpetual death sentence to be behind the curve, and the snowbally nature allows your enemies ability to press their advantage feel overly oppressive. Neither winning or losing feels good. I've had less than 10 legitimately good games in pre-season. Is this the state of the game Riot desires? Can we get some kind of insight on Riot's thoughts to these issues?
