He can be very good, both built AD and AP, so you have options in playstyle on how you want to play him. Incidentally, a lot of people get into the trap of just using him for his Q, so beware... it SEEMS to be his highest damage output, but if he is AP his W and E hit very hard as well, and if he is AD you need to remember to auto attack :p
