Quick breakdown of why we can't honor "everyone that deserves it"
So before this gets too out of hand, let's get this out of the way now:
-
Honoring more people devalues the new honors and makes it less of an accomplishment. Someone has already made this point here and it's valid. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/dEZzvZxk-i-think-people-are-missing-the-point-of-the-new-honor-system
-
Allowing multiple honors makes farming honors easy to do with a full pre-made, resulting in falsely acquired banners and whatnot. This massively devalues the honor system and would result in inevitable decreases to droprates, leveling, or even removal of certain rewards.
-
Counteracting this by decreasing effectiveness of honors in groups would actively discourage people from playing with friends if they want to gain any ground in this system. We don't want to discourage people from grouping together, but also don't want to discourage people from playing alone.
So with that out of the way, let's go over some good ideas we've thrown out:
-
Increasing the amount of players you can honor to two would be fine. Sometimes, yes, you are split and it's hard to single out your teammates, but two gives a 10 honor spread between your team making it more likely everyone will get recognized for something, or even have them notice more if they don't get recognized due to toxicity.
-
Limiting pre-mades to only being able to honor one of their own selves in a match would also make it difficult to farm honors together and would encourage players to recognize outside of their own circle.
-
Being able to honor your opponents again is also really good. Yes, sometimes the only friends you find in a match are on the other team, or even sometimes there's just a player on the other team that really deserves as much attention as they can get.
Finally, going over what's absolutely moronic about this new system:
- The honors are limited and kind of dumb. Friendly is fine (though the actual title is cringe-inducing), Stayed Cool is redundant with Friendly and could just be filed under "Positivity", and "Great Shotcalling" is just encouraging people to spam as many pings as humanly possible and is making my ears ring. I would highly encourage going back to the brainstorming phase on what the honors are because my god.
Yeah, that's about it. Other than that, the system's pretty solid. You turned positivity into an actual competition. Most impressive.
