Oh Dear, Udyr

I am a silver player, so my 'vision' is limited because I don't play in the higher elos (yet). That said, I consider myself a student of the game. Watch a lot of coaches and pros. Keep up with patches, and I theory craft a lot. Udyr is a favorite champion of mine I feel bad playing outside norms. Because i feel like I am tilting my team. Bringing nothing to the team. And also, just gimping myself because I could be playing something like a xin zhao which does udyr's job but better.

These runes have definitely improved Udyr. I think press the attack works really well with his tiger stance. Makes him feel like the fiora of the jungle, invading and dueling everyone. That's great. However, in team fights or even skirmishes, he still feels like a volibear or a skarner. Champs that are easily countered by any kind of cc. Because they have no hard engage. With every new champ coming out having some movement ability (even Ornn with his dash) and a lot having cc. These champs like Udyr are just easily kited. Not to mention his QWE feel great. Then you look at his R....and literally see no benefit to maxing it. It's just so lack luster. Scales off AP. Does hardly any damage. No real special effect to it.

Some of your employees said in Beyond the Rift recently that they listen to anyone as long as the argument is good. So I am putting forth an idea for Udyr. What if his phoenix stance could only be unlocked after building up a resource. Kind of like Gnar turning into mega gnar, except you'd be able to store that rsource and use it whenever you wanted. Instead of the sometimes randomness of Gnar's transformation. Then make it so his phoenix stance lasts only a short while. I am thinking at max 6 seconds. While in that stance, the first target you right click (that's within an acceptable range) you dash to, knocking aside anyone else between you an them. Like Vi's ult. Only, as you dash, you leave behind a burning trail that does DoT damage to anyone who comes in contact with it. Let it scale off AP, because it isn't meant to do a ton of damage. Last effect being (and if you swap stances, this is cancelled) but if you die while in phoenix stance, you revive like Guardian Angel. This would keep with Udyr's theme. It would make his R worth maxing. The need to build up resource (lets say by stance swapping) would keep it from being op. You'd have utility, hard engage, and make udyr a champion you'd actually see and feel good about being on your team.

For your ganking purpose, you could dive with it. Knowing you'd revive. (also, if you pop the effect of the revive that goes on separate cooldown. Like an Anivia egg. So it isn't abused.) You could engage, immediately swap to bear to stun, tiger to do a load of dmg. Then in team fights, if you build bruiser, you could flank and jump on back line. You could hard initiate for your team, disrupting enemy team with the knockback and zoning them with the fire trail. Because whether it does a lot of dmg or not, no one wants to take extra dmg in a team fight.

I think it'd be a lot of fun, and make udyr a lot more viable.

P sure Udyr has highest win rate for a jungler in Solo Q right now.. he's more than strong enough at the moment. I main him and can attest he's perfect right now. I can easily take dragon at level 4 with just starting items :P

As for phoenix vs. tiger, they both have their strengths. Some people prefer one over the other, more single target damage? or faster farming? Either is great!
