Who are some good ADCs for someone wanting to learn to ADC?

I almost never play ADC, but when I do, I play as Varus, Lucian, or Jhin. I'm trying to learn how to play as ADC so that I can go in lanes other than Mid or Top. I want to know some tips for playing ADC and some ADCs that would be good to learn to play as, along with builds for those champs.

I think Ashe is a really basic but solid adc to learn. Because of how she is, I think if you can play the role with her well, you can play any adc on a decent level. Since she's immobile and generally weak until late game, you have to learn how to position very very well and also cs with low damage.

You want a character that is simple or that you already know well so that you can practice all of the mechanics necessary to play well as a marksman. As such you want to avoid marksmen with weird gimmicks or unusual playstyles, as they will not play like other marksmen. Jhin for example is lots of fun, and really cool, but he doesn't play like any other marksman. So you wouldn't want to try to learn the role by playing him.

Some of the mechanics that you will need to master are, positioning, attack-move, build flexibility, lane management, trading and last hitting.

Ashe, Misfortune, Varus and Jinx are all immobile marksmen, requiring you to learn positioning and attack-move in order to use safely and effectively. The other mechanics can be learned on any champion.

You're best off picking one or two to main and just playing them consistently while you master the mechanics. Additionally you will learn faster if you make use of video guides like the video linked here:

Their channel also has detailed guides on specific champions, so you may be able to find something for a specific champion you want to play.

Caitlyn & Xayah are pretty good starter ADCs.

If you're like me and you suck at kiting and orbwalking, go with Jhin. Since he does more damage per shot you have less clicks to kite.

Find one ADC that you really like and focus on them. Each adc has a small timing quirk in their auto attack to get used to, so its best to just main one instead of playing many.

I enjoy Xayah, as well as jhin, but i also play ahri adc (it works pretty well).

Xayah is extremely broken. Twitch is fun but requires a bit of a brain (unless your opponents lack one).

Ashe Great for learning positioning, trading/poke, and kiting. All around a solid adc thats always been great for picking up the role.

Jinx Same as Ashe, but less focus on kiting and more on positioning.

I do think it's important to have a champ pool that lets you hit every lane; nothing worse than getting into Champ Select and someone says "I need to trade ADC, I don't have any ADC champs." Ugh.

....I did not do a lot of research in picking my ADC champs. I just sort of looked at what their abilities were and if I could see how they'd work together. I ended up picking up Tristana and Sivir. Apparently they both have pretty high learning curves. Tristana is especially tricky to CS with, and Sivir seems to have some serious mana problems. So... I dunno who I'd recommend, but I'd caution against picking either of these two. I saw a LOT of Tristana at Worlds, but those guys are Pro, ADC mains.
