Malzahar rework is dissapointing...

Hello everybody! I just wanted to share my thoughts with you about this recent rework Malzahar got through.

I'm new to League of Legends, but I'm not new to MOBA games, I used to play DotA, not DOTA 2. Anyway, a long time ago, when I didn't even played any MOBA at that time I heard about LoL, I wanted to start playing but I had a wooden PC so I didn't bother, I started playing DotA.

What I liked about LoL at first sight, was the artstyle and a champion, that was Malzahar. I liked his kit, skin, backstory about being consumed by power and all so I became more interested, watched tutorials, gameplays, skin spotlights etc.

I just started playing 3 weeks ago, I knew more than a regular beginner about this game. DotA had many more mechanics that I didn't like, such as turn rate, or the frustrating feeling of losing gold when you die.

Everything I wanted was to earn IP to buy Malzahar and play with him, but exactly when I bought him, they changed his, well EVERYTHING.

People say this new Malzahar is OP and broken, I asked a friend that played LoL very much, and he said that he got huge nerfs on his skill damage. Also I played with this new Malzahar, to see if he's alright, I have level 5 on him right now.

What I can say is that he's more boring to play then he was back then, the voidlings die too fast and deal less damage, this passive is useful against global ults such as Ashe or Jinx, but in teamfights anyone can hit you once and focus you next, E less damage, and his ult is only surpressing someone and spawning his old W, now you're dependent to stick with your team always because you are too slow, and die too fast, and with the 12 sec cooldown nerf on his new passive you always need to backup in lane. And he's so boring to play, only spam 2 spells to clear a wave or jungle. This champion didn't need a rework, he had so many ways of being counterplayed, smite his voidling, or cancelling his ult with QSS, squishy. With this new rework this doesn't feel like that Malzahar that I used to know, and certainly he didn't need a reskin, he looks like cosplaying a voidling with the new look.

The same reason made me move from DotA, the nerfs and reworks that made useless some heroes and less fun to play, only buffing broken heroes like Pudge or Slark, and destroying others like Oracle or Zet, like anybody played them.

It's really sad, everything I wanted was playing with my favorite character, well what can I say now, my fate is sealed already.

Same story as Brand. Both Malz and Brand had very distinct identities and playstyles and small communities who loved them. They did not have OP win rate. Somewhere at Riot games some company man came up with the idea that certain champions should fulfill certain roles.

Problem is, Malzahar and Brand already had roles they filled perfectly. Now Riot turned Brand into a teamfighter...outside teamfights he does very little damage. Malzahar had one of the best 1v1 in the game, he was a good anti-assassin mage and now he is a braindead lane pusher. Riot forced these niche roles on these champions and the result is that nobody plays them anymore.

In reality Riot is just making the game noob friendly, they want to attract and even wider (and dumber) audience. They took away the burst so that young Jimmy who has brain damage will not blow up in 2 seconds if he makes a positional mistake.

They are reworking the assassin class with the same intent. Using buzzwords like "healthy" and "counterplay" "not in a good place". That again means that assassins will not be able to burst somebody down quickly...it's all about the money and making League "more accessible" to the retarded masses. Their PR talk is just that...PR.

Actually, I played more than enough of the old Malzahar to tell you that he was wayyyy more oppressive back then than he is now. He was still two spell waveclear back then, and I can't tell how how many time's I've E-R'd someone for a kill when they had 75% health. I almost never used his voidlings apart from early lane advantages because people underestimated their damage/didn't realize they were getting wrecked by them because I never needed them.

I didn't like his kit changes when they first came out, and despite the nerfs, I decided to try to pick him back up because I just love Malzahar way too much and I feel like I never stopped playing him. The only real difference is that his damage is more spread out instead of instantaneous burst. His damage early on isn't the best, but once you pick up your first item and sorc boots it really starts to kick off.

While I will admit that I do miss the old Malzahar, I am honestly content with how he is now. Once you adjust your playstyle a bit he starts feeling like how he used to.

Also, run Ghost with him and it makes things so much easier.

i completely agree with op. his identity before the rework was a straight up anti-assassin mage. then riot kept hearing the jungler malz players so they made it a big part of his kit. then people complained about his voidlings and his passive. now his passive is nearly useless, voidlings damage is a joke unless all of them are out, ult deals no damage.

So what your saying is "I never played this game or this champion and just watched videos about him, but I want the old one back because he was funner than the new one." Seems like solid reasoning lets get old Malzahar back. If you couldn't tell that was sarcasm.
