Hello everyone!

First off I'd like to say thanks for reading my thread and hope my suggestions add some creative thought that allows us to help Volibear in anyway we can.

Before we get started Id like to share another thread that I looked at and really enjoyed reading (about the future of Volibear):

I have been playing Volibear since he was released. He was the second champion I bought (namely because he wasn't released yet). Needless to say, I have been playing him a long time.

I have explored many different builds with him:

Pure health stacking Pure tank Bruiser Pure attack speed Full AP Tank AP

What I have noticed while playing Volibear all this time is that he has no direction of stats. He almost needs everything. He has AP scaling, needs AS for his ult and W, needs to be tanky to survive fights and get to the back line, but also needs a large amount of health to be a threat with his W and passive. He even needs CDR to help with his long cool downs.

All of these stats makes it odd to try and figure out what you should build besides straight tank.

My suggestion is to make him unique in his build type. Perhaps give him a passive for how much AP he builds he also gets some tank stat (health, armor, MR). Similar to how Azir's passive works, when he builds attack speed he gets CDR.

There are a limited number of AP bruisers that come to mind as tanks, why not make a big bulky bruiser scale with AP and AS?

In regards to his kit:

His Q needs to be reworked somehow. It's unsatisfying to press Q. Make me feel like a bear when I use this ability.

What about making it so you get a huge speed boost at first that slows down after a second or two. Make it a skill shot too! Similar to sion's ult, but instead he flips the first target he reaches. This allows for counter play because if he flips a tank into his back line instead of one of the other teams carries then bad news bears (see what I did there).

I think his W is fun and an iconic part of Volibear's kit, but I don't feel as if I am mauling my opponent. Here's an idea, lower the damage and allow Volibear to hold his victim before biting. Drop the bonus health to 10%, but Volibear holds his victim in place while he mauls them for two seconds before biting them. Deals more damage at low health of course, similar to his W now.

I have more suggestions below, but looking back on what I have written so far it seems that Volibear lacks a significant role of bruiser/tank because IMO he doesn't have enough CC in his kit. People build him as a tank, why not give him reliable cc in every ability, increase the ratios on his E and R, but lower the ratio on W for increased CC, and lower the base damage because of the large CC bonus that this gives him.

Moving on, his E is actually very interesting ATM because it provides fear. Not many champions can fear. Why not allow fear to hit champions as well, even if it was for .25 seconds. This could stop channels and change team fight outcomes. After the fear has subsided a slow could affect the champions hit for half the duration that it is now because of the powerful effect that fear provides on champions. Also, keep the fear durations of monsters and minions the same.

Finally, I'd like to talk about his ULT and passive together. This is because I think they should be switched. Remember ionic spark? rip season 2 Volibear haha, but why not switch his passive into thunder claws. Thunderclaws would act like an ionic spark and rylias crystal scepter together. Every fourth attack his attacks would chain to four different enemies (prioritizing champions) damaging and slowing them on impact for 1 second. Not sure how much the slow would go for, but you guys can figure out the specifics. His ult would now be his old passive. Except one change, upon activating his ult he would roar loudly to the sky and push everyone around him (allies and enemies) in a cone like direction away from him. Volibear would also gain a large amount of health regeneration (basically same thing as old passive from here).

Increase his AP rations on his E and R, remove any ratio on his Q and maybe even remove the damage that comes with it, just there for CC. Increase the base damage on his W mauling and decrease the bonus health ratio that comes with it because of the CC added. Add a ratio to his new passive similar to his E and new R (maybe 50%). Attack speed is still given on his W, health is still looked for because of his ult and W, but this creates more of an emphasis on AP gains with tanker items.

I think Volibear should uses his frenzy as a niche, Like giving him the power to make his Q and E better when he has all 3 of his frenzy stacks. Like His Q makes him runs even faster and does more damage or flips more people than his normal q and his E range is bigger and champs can be feared for 1 secs. Of course he can still not use his w without his stacks. So you have to make a choose. Of Course he looses his stacks. So I thought he can keep his attack speed for 4 second (Like normal). His W is the same.

I was thinking for his Ult Sense it shoots out a chain of lighting when activated that is can shoot out more than just one. Like 2-4 but 2 chains lighting is the max a champ can be damaged by. He's also at full frenzy stacks after the activation. I was thinking of making his ult have more impact. He can use item 3116 slow on his ult now.

but if you want a passive instead for his ult I still want to stacks when the ult starts, but I was thinking AP gives you armor and MR. Sense he's called the armor bear.

Also for his Q I really like to add on some AP% on it and when he flips a champ when he has thunder claws activated. The damage from the thunder claws hits twice (pretty much two chains of lighting coming out.

I think this was give Voli more of a idea of what he is about. Frenzy is like his bead and butter. Giving him more chooses of what he needs to do at the time. I think his ult getting more of a explosive start. Making it more powerful the more people you are against. Making him shoot out more lighting dealing more damage. Also the item 3116 slow can be used on his ult now so this is good. The AP% on his Q makes people more likely to to build AP on him.

P.s. I know a lot of people want to be able to ride on voli's back as well so I was thinking of something that let;s people ride him into battle when he's using his q.

What you think bro? Also nerfs will be needed as well because he will be stronger after this change.

I don't think voli needs a rework I think he mainly needs a update and some changes.
