Quantity over Quality
I remember a time where going into a game demanded 30 to 40 minutes of uninterrupted time to play. In those days games didn't feel rushed, and there was an early game, mid game, and late game phases of the game and champions known to be strong in their appropriate time.
For example,
was known to be strong in the early game but fall off in the late game,
was known to be weak in the early game but strong in the late game, etc.
Most games ended with you having 6 items and not like today where you just complete your core item and games over before even completing a second item, it's ridiculous.
I don't understand why Riot decided to change the game into 15-20 fiestas were there is little to no strategy involved (not counting LCS) games are decided by who can get first blood and snowball their lane and then snowball other lanes. There are 5 positions, but it takes only 1 to do badly and drag the rest 4 who are doing equal or slightly better than the enemy.
Then you have herald who clearly exists to push an advantage even further and end the game even quicker. I had a game the other day where top lane lost really badly and the enemy got herald and he pushed all the way to nexus towers by 10-12 minutes into the game, meanwhile the rest of the 4 lanes were still playing normally with no chance to recall and help our top lane because it meant auto losing our lane also.
The enemy top and jungle literally won the game by 15 minutes our nexus towers were down and I just could not believe how this game really shifted course, and why.
The only explanation I have for Riot to do this quantity over quality is because their Chinese and Korean counterparts demand it since most of their player base play on PC bangs where you pay for time on the computer for example 5 dollars for an hour.
It was well known a few seasons ago maybe season 3-4 (best seasons) thru testimony from NA pro players that boot camped there that korean players tended to go AFK when they thought the game was over, when the enemy got a big enough lead that coming back from it was impossible or really hard for them to even try so they went AFK and surrendered at 20, otherwise it meant going for late game and waste more time of their PC bang and maybe not even win the game at the end anyway.
For the Chinese and Korean players, time was money and they wanted fast games no longer than 20, games literally ended at 20 according to which team had a big lead didn't matter if it was bronze or diamond it was the same, like a Korean thing thanks to PC bangs.
Now the state of the game clearly favors PC bang players from those countries, everything Riot has done to the game to make it an arcade style 10-15 minutes fiestas is to please their Asian lords and screw the rest of us who no longer recognize this game.
