I don't know how to build Xin Zhao anymore.

I have main'd Xin Zhao since Season 2 and he has always been my faceroll champion. Recently it just doesn't feel the same anymore. Maybe it's just me. At first I felt like the Jungle hurt a lot and felt that I was jungling too slow compared to the past, but then they added ad scaling to his W, and a 3rd hit crit. This helped me feel only slightly better. I still can't clear camps as fast as I do with Yi since Xin is purely Single target based and Yi has alpha strike along with that double hit passive. Yi also has this Q cooldown reduction by AA. My runes are AD Marks, Armor Seals. 10%cdr@18 glyphs with scaling mr, and 3 Attack Speed Quints. I go 18/ 12/0 Masteries taking Fervor.

First Item, Bloodrazor Second Item, Boots of Swiftness Does Xin Zhao really need another Attack speed item? Many people suggest 3rd item go Guinsoo's. I understand where they are coming from, but every time I go 3rd item Guinsoo's I feel squishy as hell, whenever the enemy team has Zed Mid, or Trundle Top, or Rengar JNG. Anyone who is bursty basically. As a result, I've been testing out building Maw 3rd. When I do this, I feel like i'm still lacking Attack Speed. I don't feel like I'm attacking as fast as I should be. Sometimes I try to stride for 40%cdr just to keep his W constantly active, and also to jump around all the time with E, when facing someone like Tristana, who has rocket jump and Buster Shot or Kallista. But to do this I would need a Mana item, AKA Frozen Heart or Iceborn Gauntlet. But let's say I try building this 3rd. Now I feel slightly Tankier, have more CDR, and more damage from sheen proc, but I still feel extremely squishy because Armor without health items is just not great. So I need your advice. I just want to feel moderately tankier, while having decent Attack speed and CDR.

Suggestion? Bloodrazor, Swifties, BlackC, Maw, Deadmans, Visage??? <-- lack of mana though. I still win my games, It just doesn't feel right.

Honestly, I am but a bronzie, but I don't see why people don't take advantage of his guaranteed crit synergies. What about something like

item 1412 item 3009 item 3071 item 3508 item 3031 item 3074 / item 3748 / item 3153

Or even if you want to run more tanky:

item 3009 (I like these boots for divers like Xin, with stormraiders keystone) item 1400 item 3078 item 3065 item 3742 item 3031 / item 3508

Basically, you know at least 33% of your AA's will be crits. There are two items that give bonuses that apply only to when you critically strike. That seems to be the most unique reason to pick him. If there are any outliers regarding power from build path I figure it would take advantage of that aspect - like rushing IE on Ashe.

The ER is great for him IMO, because of that mana back from at least 1/3 of your auto attacks, and the CDR/Damage/Further synergy with IE, which enhance his crits even more and could even put you over the CDR cap with other items. At a certain point, build enough crit and his W passive becomes irrelevant, but that's the appeal of IE and ER as they are crit items that amplify the critical strikes themselves without just making them more likely.

Generally want to prioritize damage over AS on champs with great attack speed steroids ( Tristana ), at least that's what I've heard. I suppose the heal is a synergy with AS but it seems like it's much more useful for jungle sustain and maybe odd duels than the massive sustain needed to stay in a team fight - and he is a diver.

I feel ya bro. I just been building him to play as a beefy bruiser for late game. I have been told to build for max CDR. My rune set us full attack speed in marks and quints, armor seals and scaling MR glyphs. This is the order of the build I go by:

  1. Bloodrazor (dmg is onhit based off 4% of target's max HP)
  2. Ninja Tabi
  3. BotRK (gives 40% atk speed boost, sustain, and passive allows for damage based of targets max hp, making it a good pair with bloodrazor)
  4. Spirit Visage (10% cdr, and passive increases all healing received> synergizes well with xin W and BotRK active)

Situational - Pick 2:

Iceborn Gauntlet - Gives 20% cdr, armor, passive allows for CC and some dmg Frozen Heart - Gives 20% cdr, armor, reduces attack speed Black Cleaver - 20% cdr, cleave dmg Trintity Force - Xin benefits from every stat this item gives, will be even more beneficial to get early on n the game from next update.
