There's a LOT you can do with the Blind Monk. The guy can be played as a relatively straightforward fighter, but his flexible build paths and the sheer amount of stuff in his kit allows a good Lee Sin player to pull off some pretty impressive tricks. If you're not totally confident in your regular skill with MOBAs or League in particular, I'd recommend you practice with a champion that feels similar, but has a lower skill floor--Vi is a good example. Beyond that, as I don't play much of the guy myself, I can only give you a few baseline pointers:

  • Remember to weave in autoattacks between your abilities. Just getting one attack in after each cast will make your Energy last significantly longer.
  • Safeguard (W1) can be used to dash to any nearby targetable allied unit. Not just champions and minions; wards, tunnels, bears, tentacles, anything.
  • Dragon's Rage (R) has a plethora of uses. It can be used to finish off an opponent if your Q is down, to escape a bad fight, to get the enemy tank off of your teammates, to knock a priority target into your teammates... The list goes on.
  • Lee Sin works with pretty much any stat that's not Ability Power. Once you're comfortably familiar with this game's item list, just build whatever items are good for the game you're in.

Were you not loved as a kid? Why would you want to cause so much pain and frustration to people! For the love of all that is holy, we don't need more Lee Sin players!

Serious tip: buy lots of wards item 2050item 2043item 2049item 3711 because Lee is blind and needs vision

Don't play Lee Sin Sin if you're just starting off unless you don't think you'll be playing this game a lot. Lee Sin is a "crutch" champion like the beginner-friendly characters of other games. Master the game first before you play a beginner friendly character. You learn Lee Sin now and you'll have a tougher time positioning and have bad map awareness later on because he has two gap closers and top ms. You learn Lee Sin now and you may not be able to manage mana as well because he manaless. You'll also have a tougher time when you try less mobile melee champs and champs with less damage (a lot of champs have WAY less damage than him). Seriously, I constantly see Lee Sins with absolutely no map awareness or positioning skills AT ALL. If you choose not to believe me then just believe the people who say Lee Sin is hard, either way, not playing Lee Sin is for the best.

Lee sin is hard to play. I'll just put that out there. As long as you don't mind having more than a few games where you might perform pretty sub-optimally, I would say go for it.

In terms of how to play Lee, I'm not the right person to talk to. But if you need help with other things about the game though, feel free to add me as a friend on League. ^_^

First off buy all Infinity Edges, and then just mash QWER and you should win the game roughly at 5 minutes.

YOU DON"T PLAY LEE SIN AT LEVEL TEN. I'm not trying to be funny or an ass. He is a Higher level champ. He is a top or jungler. It takes a real education to play him. You need game knowledge before he can be tackled. Don't do it to yourself.

Randomonium11/28/2015, 4:36:22 PM2 votes

Lee Sin is a champion with INCREDIBLY high skill cap. To do all the flashy things you see pros do with him requires some pretty high mechanical skill. Honestly, I've tried playing him a lot and I've accepted the fact that I don't have the mechanical skill yet to play him the way he is meant to be played. So with that said, I'd recommend you wait on Lee Sin until you get more experienced with the game.

However, if you are intent on playing him I can tell you the basics about him. First off, if you don't land your Q then don't engage in a fight. Lee Sin's Q deals a huge chunk of damage and is vital in his combo. Second, it is vital that you mix auto atttacks in between his abilities to avoid running out of energy (lee sin's passive gives him energy when he auto attacks after using an ability.) You don't need to auto attack twice between every ability but you should at least auto attack once. Third, you can use your W to dash to friendly wards or minions. This allows you get in a better position to land you Q or chase a fleeing opponent. "Ward hopping" also allows you to jump over walls to flee when you are low health. Fourth, your ultimate has two uses: 1) kicking a tank back into his allies or 2) kicking an enemy carry back towards your team. The former is very easy to do and what you should focus on when you initially play Lee Sin. However, the latter is much more useful. To kick a carry back towards your team you need to land a Q on the carry or W to a ward or minion near the carry. You then need to walk behind the carry without attacking him (you can use your E to slow them to make walking behind them easier.) Once you are behind the carry you use you ultimate to kick them back towards your team. You can then either Q their carry to follow them back to your team or use your W to a team mate to escape the enemy team.

Lee Sin is a very technical champion, so don't be suprised if your learning curve with this champ is steep.

Lee Sin is a high-mobility jungler who scales very strongly with AD. The first half of the game typically involves investing in AD and armor penetration to max out your burst damage when ganking lane or counterjungling (something that Lee Sin is quite good at against most team comps). By midgame, however, it is pretty much required that Lee Sin starts stacking HP and armor because, by then, his role shifts from a damage-dealer to a fight-initiator due to how poorly his offensive capability scales into the lategame--he becomes more adept at tower-diving and catching squishies in large teamfights as time goes on. The more Lee Sin gets fed early on, the longer he is able to play like a AD powerhouse before he has to make the transition to not-squishy.

Weaving auto attacks between skills, ward jumping, and good flash+Q initiation are all pretty important as far as fancy tricks that Lee Sin can do goes. A hefty knowledge of when and where to gank, as well as being conscious of what the enemy jungle is doing, is also quite important. Finally, it's important to recognize when Lee Sin isn't an appropriate pick because the pool of jungle champions who are able to 1v1 him in the jungle had widened a fair bit. Watch out for TrundleUdyrXinZhaoNocturnePantheon as these Champs are all capable of taking him on in a 1v1.

i dont know, i played some bots with him, got used to ward hopping, but hitting his q, to me, is just hard sometimes

the first time i tried him normals....sigh, i thought the intentional feed system would ban me, so now i'm scared of trying him again

if you manage to hit your first q, be aware that the second cast of it deals more damage based on missing health, so you can hold on the second q a little bit and deal some damage, you can also ult then you use your second cast on q

Zunk11/28/2015, 6:36:38 PM1 votes

You will love playing Lee sin. It may take a while to get used to him, however. He fits most team comps since you can play him as an assassin, bruiser, or tank.

When I play him in the jungle, I like to build warrior and black cleaver for a nice mix of damage and tankiness. If ahead, I might go for a damage focused build. If not, I'll just go tanky. Early on I try to snowball the game since Lee's damage is great early and mid game. Late game I just focus on peeling or making picks with my ult.

I recommend playing a few games and experimenting with your build to see what works the best for you.

Hey there QuickyHands, feel free to shoot me a friend request if you have questions on Lee Sin.

I've been playing since early 2010 and I mostly main normals, I think I have roughly 4,000 normal games on one of my main accounts. I've played quite a bit of Lee Sin in every role you can think of, Jungle, Top, Mid, Support and even ADC at one point or another. Really playing Lee Sin is probably when I have some of the most fun games.

Early game you're going to want to decide whether you want to be a tank or do damage. Lee has high damage output in general, but going full AD with one or so defensive items is really fun because you can end up 100-0'ing the enemy Mid, ADC or Support/Jungle. Late game, if you are a damage Lee, you're going to want to jump in, delete someone and hopefully jump out. When you are a tanky Lee Sin, you are going to want to Q in and either ward hop or flash behind the enemy ADC and kick them into your team with your ultimate. You can also kick back other champions/roles too depending on who is the priority target. Moral of the story is that you are essentially suppose to peel with your ultimate or deliver a high priority target into your team.

I'm not going to go over every ability because they are pretty self explanatory. But the combos themselves are important. With my post, I'll leave you with two combos that every Lee Sin player should know.

First combo is the Insec. It's named after a famous pro Korean player and I believe he was the first one to do this in competitive play. At the time, this was very unheard of which is surprising because it's not hard.

You basically Q to an enemy champion or minion wave and as you are following up on your Q, you put a ward behind them and dash to it with your W, then you use your Ultimate to kick the target into your team. This is probably the most reliable of the combos as it doesn't take very much difficulty. Just practice in a few bot games and you'll be able to do it with a 80% success rate in no time.

The next combo is probably my favorite because of how versatile it is. It's called the Bengi kick and it's not quite as popular or well known as the Insec kick. It was done most often during Season 3 in the LCK by player Bengi on SKT T1. Other players in competitive play pulled this off every great once in awhile, but Bengi had a high success rate and used it often. But, basically, you use your Ultimate on someone and right before it's casted, you flash behind the enemy target, or to the side, depending on where you want the target to go. It's a bit difficult to put it into text to explain it, but I'll leave you with two examples of a few games I had where I used it.

http://plays.tv/video/56558581b42961cb8f/lee-sin-and-fizz-outplay-on-vlad - This video I use the Bengi kick to save my Fizz and prevent Vlad from using his pool to tower dive.

http://plays.tv/video/5656f9f713cec301ee/bengi-kick - This one was meh, I missed my Q which forced her to turn back and come back to me which set up the Bengi kick. It wasn't impressive at all, but it ensured the kill. I was playing Support Lee Sin this game as referenced by my sightstone/support item upgrade.

I probably have a lot more to say, but I'm just too tired so I'll conclude my post with that and wish you good luck.

OK. So you can build lee many different ways. A lot of people sometimes build lee sin "glass cannon" because his damage scalings are high. There are also a lot of people who say that lee sin cannot scale into late game and falls off. I have tried a lot of different things but lately, with item 1400 item 3071 item 3742 item 3111 item 3156 item 2045. You can change it to whatever fits your playstyle, but i feel like this really helps me do a lot of damage while still being able to stay in fights for a prolonged period of time. The problem with glass cannon lee is that sure u do a buttload of damage, but u can also get cc'd and burst down. Practice ward jumps. It really comes in handy. Go into customs and before doing anything, just change your key bindings to whatever is most comfortable. You can practice the actual jumps anywhere. Lvl 1-2: always try to get 2 autos in btwn spells. But once u have the three main spells, you can combo them sometimes if u want, but watch ure energy bar. The second part of your q does missing health damage so u could Q > R > Q to get more damage out.

Its really hard to go in depth with lee sin because there is a plethora of things you need to know. But i am pretty sure that NIGHTBLUE3 has a video on youtube for an IN DEPTH LEE SIN GUIDE that is like an hour long. you dont have to watch it all. OR you can watch GRIPEX who is really freaking good with lee sin

Be ready for a lot of losses. When I first picked up Lee Sin I absolutely hated him. I picked him up when I was pretty new to the game, so it made my experience with him harder. Once I played some easier champs and started recognizing more about the game/champion kits/play habits etc, picking Lee Sin back up felt much easier than before. I feel like some champions you can just pick up and play, but others require a specific understanding of the game itself to be used properly. If you truly want to do well with Lee Sin, I would suggest watching as much video as you possibly can. Scenario's rarely present themselves twice in the game, so you have to understand what the win condition is each time you pick him. My assumption in life is that everybody is smart until proven otherwise, so with that, Lee is a champ you need to break things down very fast in your head. The more you play him and watch videos, the more you'll understand that X + Y = Z. That could mean a lot of things too, where it's Q on tank -> R tank to back line -> Q to backline or Q to backline -> Q to backline -> R -> Flash to mis-position the adc/jungler/mid etc. etc. There's a lot that goes in to playing a champion like Lee Sin, and it's definitely not as cut and dry as people think it might be. He fits into any team composition, so don't be afraid to play against any matchup.

Ipressbutton11/28/2015, 9:39:04 PM1 votes

If you are new you should learn the in's and out's of jungling on a easier character, like Warwick/Amumu/Nunu (all cheap and pretty easy). There's a lot to tackle like: what's the most efficient clear path, when to take neutral objectives, when and which lanes to pressure, when to steal camps from enemy jungle. Overtime they will become second nature, but learning on a easier champion can't hurt, especially when that knowledge carries over to every other jungle champion for the most part.

If you are really set on Lee, I would focus on getting your muscle memory down with ward hops. This is when you place a ward (either from trinket or trackers) and W to it, allowing you to quickly reposition yourself so that you can ult your target towards your teammates. Lee Sin's ult is really versatile, you will pick up on all the situations it can be used for by just playing him. Ward hopping is also useful for going over walls (like the ones in the dragon pit) if you get caught out.

Key items are item 1400 or item 1408 + item 3071

After that I would build defensively based on the other teams composition (you will pick that up as you play more too.)

Foxdrop is a good source.

A few things I picked up while testing out Lee.

Build your runes/masteries around a mix of tank with a bit of offense. Start item 1041 and Q. As you clear, interweave one or two auto attacks between ability casts for extra healing and energy. Jump into some custom games and practice landing your Q, it's hit box is deceptive so you want to KNOW you're going to hit. Your build path is up to you, though your end build should typically look something like, item 1400 item 3074 item 3117 item 2049 item 3143 item 3102 Simply put, a couple early damage items, sight stone for ward hopping, then finish with defensive items. Maxing abilities should be R, Q, E, W.

spank me lee11/28/2015, 6:20:54 AM1 votes

he's a very strong duelist, always remember Q does more damage the more health the enemy has missing. so if you need to Q R Q in order to finish an enemy, you can, also look for ways to kick an enemy into allot of others. preferably a tank, he takes a bit of skill, but he's pretty fun to play, He also has a very strong clear in the preseason now, so thats good..

add me if you have other questions i can help out with runes, masteries, plays, wards hops, etc. lee is love lee is life, remember

lee is too advance for you to use... lee is very mobility/burst type but he is not god...

my best advice...

  • dont play champion with high skill cap
  • try all champion and understand what they are
  • research on item, rune, masteries, etc etc etc etc... lol wikia is your best tool...
  • play a lot of bots to practice your hands/eye coordinate
  • trade/poke/burst/etc in lane, jungler and teamfight...
  • study on opponent... and predict their movement/spells...

ps learn the mechanic (basic and advance)...

Alright people said foxdrop but gave no links, here is a 2 week old 20 minute guide from him about jungling him in Season 6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOfAVq-j5rk

For newbie junglers I also think you should check out some of stonewalls videos. https://www.youtube.com/user/stonewall008/playlists

Check out the playlists which have some guides to really help you out, his commentary I also find entertaining and I am someone who hates lets plays, he is quite knowledgeable at jungling.

RÕSS11/28/2015, 1:32:40 PM

Honestly man, If you want to play lee sin then play him, regardless of your level. I'm also fairly new to league of legends and I'm very big into lee sin right now. I played him a few times and thought to my self, "this champ is way to high leveled for me" but the only way I got better with him is by constantly practicing and playing him. He is a great jungler (haven't played him in a lane yet), and he has so much utility AND kill potential that you can really fill any role your team needs. I tend to run 18, 0, 12 on him. as for items. Its really up to how the game is going. You need to be constantly watching the enemy team. If they are ahead of you then maybe you should build tank with a few ad items and get in those lanes looking to get your laners back on par. (which reminds me) lee sins early game gank ability is huge. You should be looking to gank after lvl 3 - 4. If you're low on health then go take a scuttle crab to get some health back from your w. Anyway back to items. as for your jungler item, go trackers knife (because its a *ss as-well) or take stalkers blade for chilling smite on enemy champions. If you take stalkers blade then this also means you need to buy a *sight stone to be able to ward jump a few times. (I recommend buying sight stone if you're just starting out lee sin as it gives you the most wards). the only other item I can somewhat recommend is mobility boots. this is so you can get to lanes faster as well as move through your jungler quicker. There is no way I could write down everything ive learned about playing lee sin in here but definitely watch some of foxdrop's guides on youtube. look on mobafire for builds guides and recommendations. Hope this helps a little bit, enjoy lee sin hes so much fun to play! And don't forget! gank early and gank often.
