Placement Matches/Why Ten When Ten Don't Matter?

A little frustrated. I worked hard to get out of Bronze and finish the season silver 3. Yes, Im pro, clearly. So, I take a little break near the end of preseason and now Im back at it. Just finished my placements.

I lose my first three games. One afk, one game we're down 0-7 in five minutes (Im 0-0,) whatever, you've heard it before. I can tell by the plaques that these are all silver players from last year. I then win 7 in a row, with some nice hard carries for good measure. Same thing. Silver players by and large. Congrats: Bronze 3

I remember reading that the first three matches are the most important, for some reason, but if that's the case, then why make me play 10? I couldnt have done any better, so why even have those games if they don't mean anything?

I don't mind playing my way out of Bronze again, I think I've gotten significantly better in the last few months and expect to be able to get to Gold this season, even with this set back... but, something isn't right with the placement system, as far as I can tell.
