Why does lee exist?

Holy shit, this champion is soooooo UNBELIEVEABLY BAD! You know you're going to win when the enemy has a lee and you know you're going to lose when theres a lee on your team. It has come to the point where i ban lee sin cause i don't want to see that thing on my team. There is no such thing as a good lee sin, the champion is just trash. It begs the question to why he is so popular, because you look fancy while making plays?

Why would you take this thing when there are so much stronger picks that are also way easier to play? Ex, sejuani, vi, hecarim, zac etc etc.

Has no CC, has no damage past the 25 min mark, offers absolutely nothing to a team, nonexistant during teamfights, relies on one ability to do something productive, paralyzed if you miss your Q. What can you even do as a lee sin during a teamfight when tanks are holding the frontline? Jump Q to a rammus and die in an instant? Like wtf? PLEASE STOP PICKING THIS CHAMPION.

They nerfed him because he was too strong

Lee is a champion that can either seem like the best jungler at times or the worst jungler at times.

Lee's situation is a lot like Cassiopeia, where she will seem like the shittiest mid you've ever played for the first 10-20 games but after you start to improve on her, you'll realize she is one of the strongest most viable mid laners in the game.

Lee takes dedication to play to his highest strengths but he is unfortunately countered really hard by the current tank meta.

Riot likes to nerf shit so other things become viable. As the wheel moves and things become stale they'll start buffing or nerfing champions again. Basically the balance team has their view on how the game should be and how champions should be and force everything into the mold. They factor in pro analysis, but when it comes down to it their focus is making the game competitive. Lee Sin was extremely strong in competitive lcs, but probably fine in normal ranked play. However, Riot balances around pro play.
