@RiotRepertoir Can I get your thoughts on an idea for QSS?

QSS / Mercurial change for 6.9

So RiotRepertoir talked about some upcoming changes to QSS/Mercurial. How it will only cleanse CC rather than all debuffs. He mentions that other changes are on the table (like a shorter cooldown). Feel free to check out his post on the details.

My thoughts are why not make QSS the AD version of Zhonya's? Wait! Don't downvote yet. When I say the AD version of Zhonya's, I mean give it an active that is loud gameplay wise (you can easily tell when someone has used a Zhonya's) and very powerful (with drawbacks).

Background/Reasoning For example when you use Zhonya's, you give up the ability to move, attack, or use any abilities. But you gain invulnerability and untargetability for 2.5 seconds. It's a pretty big trade off. RiotRepertoir is "aiming for QSS to be good at countering enemies/teams with large lockdown that you need to be free of".

So why not make QSS/Mercurial's active give you CC immunity for a window of time? I argue for a window of immunity rather than just removing the current CC for two reasons. QSS/Mercurial shouldn't be a safety net for AFTER you get cc'd. And secondly, removing only my current CC isn't going to help me counter a team that might have a lot of it. If they play smart, they will chain their cc rather than use it all at once. Just as Zhonya's is essentially choosing to CC yourself to negate damage or spells sent your way, this new QSS/Mercurial would have a drawback as well. Two possibilities could be that while CC immune, you take increased damage from all sources. Or that the strongest CC that was negated during the window is applied after the active finishes (ignoring displacement effects like Blitz's hook, Gragas's ult, etc)

I don't mind QSS/Mercurial having only the ability to remove CC, but I feel like it has the opportunity to be a game changing item like Zhonya's rather than only a safety net.

Thoughts?
