Supports, XP gains and the Sona update

Supports tend to get the low end of XP in the game usually never reaching level 16 in a 50 min game, now it's even more imperative for Sona to hit 16 asap with this planned update

Will anything be changed to allow for supports to get more XP then being 3 levels lower then everyone in the game? the old mastery helped but its gone
