Placements?

So recently, since the start of the new season, I (along with thousands of others) have been trying our absolute best to get placed as high in the "elo system" as possible. However, the results can be very confusing, as well as, frustrating. { Background info } In Season 5, I was able to climb to Silver 2, from bronze 5. Now, i am VERY aware that im not nearly as good as some of the people out there. Needless to say, i was placed in bronze 1. Im also aware that I do NOT deserve any ranking at all, i must earn the ranking that i would like. Anyway, this made me think, how accurate, or "fair" is the system (?) that places you in your division? Personally i believe that your ranking should be determined by how well YOU do, not as a team. For example, each role could have different "requirements" that one must achieve, in order to get a good score or "mark". A support could get judged based on # of wards placed/destroyed, assists, healing (depending on champion), etc. Im writing this because over the course of my 10 placement games, things happen, in real life, meaning that people disconnect, or go "afk" for some reason or another. And losing a game that you can NOT control can be very frustrating, and cause others to "flame" or "feed". Basically, I think riot games should "rework" the "ranked system". Please feel free to vote (?) in the poll below (if that is how it works) .

Have a read here! Any concerns or questions you might have are likely addressed somewhere in this thread:

Best of luck on the Rift mate!

The points you talked about for a new ranked system would not really work just because 1. You could basically trade with the other team and let them get a lot of healing/wards destroyed ect. and then let them do the same and everyone would rank up. 2. It may not be a good determinant of what the player did in game. If a top laner was constantly creating pressure away from the team and basically just farming (maybe missing CS but pushing the wave) and damaging towers but allowing his team to group and finish them off then stat-wise it would seem the laner did nothing but actually added a lot to the team's win.

Riot said they are working on a system that punishes afk players and those that disconnect. They will receive more LP loss and harsher punishments for leaving. Riot says they are working on it which means it will be here in about three to four years. I am not even bothering with all the AFK players, griefers, and people that just don't want to bother learning how to play the game. I managed to climb myself out of bronze V into silver . . . . IV . . . and I was close to silver III. I did it towards the end of the year so it was basically not even worth it. During this tedious process I had to deal with a lot of negativity, players going afk, griefing, raging, and otherwise just bad . . . to the point that I had the most kills . . . and two or three people had 11 or more deaths before 20 minuets. You just cannot win.

I advise you to wait till they fix the new matchmaking system, have fun with your provisional matches, and que with an entire group of friends or players you know that are not going to leave or cause drama. The new matchmaking system allows you to que with a group of five players in ranked. It makes it a lot easier and Riot tried their best to fix the problem, but unfortunately until they place a vote to kick option and dish out SEVERE punishments to players AFKing and feeding, you are going to have to deal with it in solo que.
