If the Tribunal system comes back.....

I really enjoyed the Tribunal (way back when) but it had some obvious issues (spam punish for rewards). I have crafted an idea for it. Here are my thoughts:

Ranks

To make the Tribunal more fair, and to remove bad judges, it is important to test the people who join, as so they don't judge the defendant unfairly. The first time a player enters the Tribunal, they will be assigned three "practice" cases. These cases will be engineered by Riot, so that they increase in difficulty. Depending on how fast you solved each of these cases, if the verdict was correct or not, and the information you used, you will be put into one of 6 tiers (maybe the medal ratings ex: bronze). Each rank has increasingly more say in the verdict of a case (discussed below). Your rank will also rise if you participate in 30 unanimous verdicts.

Case Menu

After taking the entrance case (or just entering the Tribunal), you will enter a small menu. Here you can store up to 3 cases, for up to 3 days. After submitting your thought, it disappears from the menu. At the end of the third day you must submit your verdict. When the verdict is decided upon, you are notified, as well as if it was in your favor. To find cases, you will click on a tab (most likely titled: cases). Here you can find some information about cases. This feature is restricted until you are in tier 1, 2, or 3. If you are in tier 4 or 5, you are assigned cases randomly. You can take on a maximum of 5 cases every 24 hours.

Examining Cases

By clicking on a case in the case menu, you are brought to the case file. Here you can view all of the chat logs (before, during, and after the game), gameplay, builds, KDA, names and the filed reports. You are given an example of an acceptable game, if the case is too close. Previous (reported) records of players will be shown. In higher tiers (1/2), you will be given the option to talk to other high tier judges through text (or preferably voice chat). In this mode you can highlight data, so the other people can see what your point of interest is. When you are ready to submit your vote, two options will be shown: Guilty, or Not Guilty.

The Verdict

Each person has a vote score out of 11. Tier 5 has 1 vote point, Tier 4 has 2 vote points, Tier 3 has 3 vote points etc.. The verdict is decided by the majority (point score) opinion. After casting your vote, you may not recast it. Any evidence showing that you used two accounts to get more votes will give you a severe punishment (mentioned lower). In addition, when casting your vote, you will need to provide a minimum of 2 pieces of evidence for your choice. More pieces of evidence are encouraged.

The Sentence

The lowest tier is tier 5. A highest tier person will be called a "Grand Judge". They, instead of working to find out the verdicts of a case, assign the punishment that goes along with a case. It is almost impossible to start out as a grand judge, as you need to have a very good player record in Lol, as well as ace your entrance exam. If the judge doesn't agree with the results of a non-unanimous verdict, he may add 3 points to either side, potentially changing the verdict. The Grand Judge may issue punishments varying in length, severity, and type (via a few drop down menus). The next time the player logs on, they will be notified of their punishment, as well as the proof the Tribunal used to decide on their opinion. The defendant will be notified when their punishment is up.

Acquittal

If the Tribunal finds the defendant not guilty, the defendant is given a small consolation prize (one game with autofill protection/ 5-10 ip). The defendant has a "cool down" on this bonus (20-24 hours). This is to prevent farming the bonuses.

Rewards

Upon voting in three unanimous cases, you will be given one "Justice" point. Upon reaching three "Justice" points, you receive an award based on your rank (ranging from 10-200 rp). If you are constantly receiving benefits, they will be more targeted at your main (champion with highest mastery) such as skins or chromas. This system is designed to be hard to abuse.

Punishments (For judges)

If there is clear evidence of a judge abusing their power, judges of a higher rank can vote to remove the perpetrator from the Tribunal. If their case is severe, a Grand Judge can issue a different punishment. Judges who are tried in the Tribunal and found guilty as a regular player are put on suspension from the Tribunal for two weeks. If another incident with the same removed judge occurs, they will be removed from the Tribunal. Other actions can lead to punishments, such as failing to vote on a case before the 3 day limit is up, or by having two accounts in the Tribunal. These may be less or more severe (decided by Grand Judges).

Note

  1. If you are a judge your username will not be shown to other judges or people.
  2. You cannot participate in examining games in which you played.
  3. The Tribunal is optional.
  4. Yasuo, Riven, and Jayce mains are not allowed to join.

I like this, but their is one thing you are missing. How do you rank up as a judge? Do you vote on the winning side for a certain number of cases? Do you have to retake the entrance exam? Do you need to do a certain amount of cases a day? ETC.

I want the tribunal back, I think it would be fun, and this is a really nice way to do this. I really like what you have to say, and I especially agree with note 4.

I wasnt around when the tribunal was in place, but so far, I really do enjoy this idea. The thing that would worry me though is, perhaps, what if you got some one who took the tests seriously but only did that so they could do whatever they wanted in the actual process? Seems like that could happen. I wouldnt though. I would love to be apart of it.

What is difference between Tribunal and Instant feedback? To me it just seems like Tribunal is a pain for nothing

Interesting ideas, bumping because I too would like to see an update from Riot on the tribunal.

I think the tribunal would be better if it were something to apply for like PBE, and there wasnt really a reward except maybe a ribbon

I like the concept. I might tweak a few things, here's hoping Riot actually notices them and takes it into account.

The Tribunal was a nice system. I liked the idea I could make a difference, and keep a player from being banned, just because they had been reported a lot by angry players. Hope it comes back.

Note 3 is obvious. and Note 2 is absolutely appropriate. to prevent bias.
