lets take a look at infinity edge over the years

a beautiful portrait of power creep of crit itemization. infinity edge had received buffs and nerfs over the years since season 1.

if we go right back to the beginning, we will see that the item went from a

4080 gold price tag 80 ad 20% critical strike chance

in season 1 to

3400 gold price tag 70 ad 20% critical strike chance

in season 7

keep in mind, this includes a change to global gold generation and general item price increases somewhere in season 6 (?), where every major item in the game received a price increase of about 200 gold, together with an increase of global gold generation.

cleavers price was incrased to 3500 gold back then.

death cap received a price increase to 3800 gold and stayed in this price range until the ap overhaul in 8.4.

crit items did not receive a price increase back then.

what we can conclude is the same i noticed with marksmen itemization in general. buffs tend to stick. nerfs seem to get reverted over time. their items became more and more powerful (or just ridiculously cheap in this case).
