Soraka...

I dont understand the totality if the soraka nerfs. Soraka's damage output was already limited to being able to land accurate starcalls or combo off of others stuns. To reduce starcalls damage by 50% on accurate casts seems a bit harsh considering its hard to land and short range. Comparing starcall to aquaprison it seems that aqua prision has faster travel time, better range, higher base damage, better CC, better scaling, at the cost of a longer cooldown.

-Move Speed- When you compare soraka and nami kit synergy. Nami has superior move speed buffs to self and others. Soraka can not use her move speed buff to engage like nami can.

-Pick Synergy- Nami can use her slow on herself or an ally to give herself and easier time of landing her aoe knockup. Soraka has to land her aoe slow, which is hard to aim, for a chance to land both the silence/root combo. This allows nami to pick for her adc while soraka will normally have to rely on someone else to CC the target to land her full combo. Also dont forget that nami can point blank ult in order to land her combo as well where as soraka doesnt have this option at all.

-Peel Synergy- Nami has great peel allowing an ally or herself to slow as well has having easy to land multiple aoe stuns if someone dives the carry. Soraka must drop her aoe silence/root and hope people either stun them in it for her or they are dumb enough to stand in it.

-Healing- Nami has the better aoe healing when not counting ults. Soraka hurts herself to heal. Soraka has better healing over time. Soraka has better sustain IF she can land her starcall. Like I said earlier, without some form of CC, starcall isnt reliable unless the enemy is in point blank range. Nami has the option to heal herself and her ally with 1 cast or damage 2 enemies with 1 cast.

In short, Soraka appears to be an inferior nami with similar move speed buffs, less effective CC, more costly healing, with far inferior damage output. With the constant stream of mages like lux, morg, brand, and annie playing support I dont see why soraka's damage output needs to be so inferior considering all of her drawbacks. Nami is a great example of a support who does everything with inferior damage when compared to an annie. Morg brings excellent CC to the table as well as a nice shield but is lacking a heal. What does soraka bring to the table besides her global ult heal?

The changes I would make to soraka are...

Passive: Soraka and allies have increased move speed when running toward each other based on their missing health. .5% move speed bonus per 1% missing health. If soraka heals an ally while soraka is under the effect of rejuvenate that ally gains rejuvenate.

Starcall: Increased diameter by 10%, Soraka instantly heals for 2% (+20% AP) of her missing health and 1% (+5% AP) every half second per enemy struck over 4 seconds If an enemy strikes soraka or an ally under the effects of rejuvenate that enemy takes damage equal to half the rejuvenate effect in damage.

Equinox: equinox increases in size by 15% every half second for 1.5 seconds. A wave pulses out from the center slowing and silencing every half second, each pulse deals damage. If starcall touches equinox an explosion occurs increasing equinox's effects by 150% and duration by 1 second.

I am not sure you fully understand Soraka's healing.

Does Nami have better heal than Soraka group wise? Possibly. Depending if people are close enough to receive the bounce. However her heal has a 10sec CD. Lets say you even run 40% CDR. Now its a 6 sec CD. Soraka's heal on the other hand starts with a 4sec CD and at max rank is 2 sec before CDR.

So in terms of HPS Soraka destroys everyone.

These Changes did not nerf Soraka overall, they tried to change a few things.

  1. They tried to invent some sort of counterplay in lane since a typical Soraka should be playing very safe and simply healing through any poke on their ADC. Making it really hard to counter her in lane. So they adjusted her Vamparism mechanic. Making it so she needs to actually use starfall in lane, and then transfer the HoT to be as efficient as she was before.

  2. They wanted to nerf her HPS. Soraka could just stand back and spam 2 on someone on CD and transfer a ton of health in a short period of time. So Riot nerfed her immediate heal by what I imagine is a significant number. Before it was at max rank 240 + 60% AP. Today it is a flat 200 without scaling.

To make up the difference you have the HoT which heals over 5 seconds and does not stack to my knowledge. The HoT at max rank is 22 +.1 AP. so with 200 AP the hot heals for like 42 health per second.

I have not played her after the changes, but it really does appear like her burst healing is reduced, and her overall healing has been increased. The change also punishes her and doesn't allow her to infidelity heal her team up after they back away from the enemy. Its much more focused on allowing her to heal very efficiently using the HoT.

Now will this change anything? I don't know. I suspect to see a lot more Warmogs on Soraka, or at least earlier than before to compensate for the reduced direct heal without being able to transfer the HoT.

Are you trolling? Nami doesn't have anywhere near the same healing potential as Soraka. You know her ult heals every friendly champion right? And you're comparing Nami's W, which only heals 2 friendly champions at max, with a 10 second cooldown, lower base healing, and half the ap ratio, to Soraka's W?

Leave.
