Can we have a conversation about a built in voice chat system?
Why isn't there one yet? I would love to hear from a rioter about this.
Possible reasons for not having a voice chat:
- Toxicity to the max - There is no difference between the current solution to toxicity in type chat and the solution to this. A mute button. And that annoying guy with kids screaming in the background or loud music, you just say, "Hey dude, you mind turning that music down or silencing that child?" (Kidding about the child thing of course. I just say it because I have children.) If they say no? MUTE.
- The current client can't support it. - Does that mean the shiny new client coming out (hopefully soon) will?
- Server overhaul - You can't tell me that games like Call of Duty and Overwatch can do it but League can't.
- I really can't think of another legitimate reason to not have it.
"But Fritterz, why would we want this?" Great question random citizen!
- First and foremost, IT SOLVES A HUGE PROBLEM WE ALL HAVE WITH DYNAMIC QUEUE. - I am a solo queue player 70% of the time and I hate having no immediate and clear communication with my teammates when the other team is a pre-made all on Skype or Curse or whatever. In client voice chat solves this problem.
- It would hopefully not bog down your computer as much as, say, Skype.
- You can make more friends while playing League, hence more team play, which is what Riot wants.
Seriously, it would improve the quality of the game in every way I can think of.
No more having to stop for a few crucial seconds to type a message to your team. You. Just. Say. It.
