Normals matchmaking?

How does whatever algorithm Rito use allow for me to be in games with plats/diamonds one game and the next with bronze/silvers? It's not a complaint because I don't like being matched with either, but it feels inconsistent yaknow?

I did well in the plat/diamond game so my mmr couldn't have dropped either
