Bard meeps

So I'm not a high elo player, but I enjoy playing bard as support. So my issue primarily is that when I'm holding a wave while my adc or whatever is gone and I'm taking cs, if I have a meep and I throw it at a creep and the creep dies from my minions before my attack reaches, my meep does no damage, and does no damage in a cone to other minions and I loose the meep. Would it be possible in scenarios like this that the meep be returned?
