Why was Ward Inventory replaced by Vision Score?

I do not understand what the purpose of Vision Score is. I do not get this change to the game, similar to how summoner spell and rune layout in scoreboard was changed. This change adds nothing to the game, but rather frustrates me in that it even takes away my ability of knowing if my team can ward or not.

It just seems like change for the sake of change. Like some willy nilly oh let's mix things up mentality. Really serves no purpose to the betterment of experience.

Seriously though what is Vision Score for?

Flaming your teammates before the post-game lobby.

It helps you know how effective your vision game is? Vision is more than just placing wards, it's how effective it is. It provides visibility (heh) on other aspects of vision, including vision denial and vision provided in champion kits.

It also helps if you're using different trinkets, as you can't set down blue wards as fast as you can set down green wards and alerts you if you're not utilizing your red trinket effectively.

It's just another tool. How effective it is depends on how you use it.

but rather frustrates me in that it even takes away my ability of knowing if my team can ward or not.

If they have a high number, they're contributing. Number of wards means nothing if they're not warding strategically. If they can't ward strategically (like placing a green ward in the enemy jungle if they're the carry, which is paramount to suicide in some games), then it's another signal they should switch to blue trinket.
