Talon's 1 Second Silence was OP...

But Katarina has no resources, gets skill resets AND can shunpo to hostiles and friendlies.

BUT TALON'S 1 SECOND SILENCE WAS OP.

Kat's ult is affected by her passive.

BUT A ONE SECOND SILENCE.....

Nice logic you have there Riot.

it wasn't op.

it, that is silences and blinds are poorly designed ccs on assassins as they remove any sort of ability to fight back,

Kat can kill you in a second.

Talon can kill you in a second.

However...

Kat can then get out.

Talon cannot.

?_?

So I believe that that is the actual basis of the opening post. They're both assassins, but because Katarina has a reset on her basic abilities for getting a kill, she can pop in, kill, pop out... or keep the kill train going.

Talon can't do so. He kills one person and had to offload most of his kit to do so. His only escape is to E into a creepwave or blow his ultimate.

Thank you for expressing that you have no fucking idea what balance is.

Talon's silence was not overpowered. The problem was that it was binary. The difference is that overpowered can be fixed by changing the numbers.

With Talon's Silence, you instantly jump beyond the average casting range of targeted spells, well before the missile of any skill shots could reach you. You then make it so that your target cannot use any spells or items--no hard CC, no defensive tools, no Exhaust, no Zhonya's--while you roll through your less-than-a-second burst rotation. Then, with the stealth from Talon's ultimate, you walk away from the fight whether or not you landed the kill.

It takes away the aspect of counter-play in a fight with Talon. He gets his entire rotation, it fully lands because you can't use anything to stop him, and then he either kills you or runs away (or in very rare cases, an ally uses CC or a pink ward so you can get him).

Katarina has no CC in her kit whatsoever, and the majority of her kit's damage is in her ultimate, which can be interrupted or avoided. Her Q-E-W rotation can't deal as much damage as Talon's E-W-Q unless Talon builds no damage at all. Her ultimate doesn't grant any defensive benefits, only the damage and Grievous Wounds.

Talon's kit needs redesigning, but I don't think Riot's going to rework him anytime Soon™

(you could also look into Evelynn's pre-rework issues for the same exact pattern)

Removeing the silence was silly. It prevented you from fighting back for ONE SECOND. It hardly changed the outcome of the majority of Talons kills. It was fair considering he's all in when he goes in. Another champ knocked out of viability, imo. Maybe thats a bit extreme, but it leans that way.

You mean Katarina, that champion that any competent team composition with CC counters? And can only escape IF she gets a kill?

And Talon who's ult lets him go invisible and get a great speed boost? And before silence removal, would insta kill you with E-Q/W-R (Ignite) and you couldn't do a damn thing about it. And even if you lived, you couldn't beat him up afterwards.

Nice logic YOU have there.

Katarina is pretty much completely shut down by hard cc. If talon had a silence, the adc wouldn't even be ablke to flash away from him.

I'm a bit confused why you think Kat is OP lol

Morgrid10/13/2014, 6:44:19 AM1 votes

That was in the cards for talon, its why he was never allowed to be strong.

Talon has undergone 3 changes since release.

  1. mana regen nerfed

  2. They "fixed" his E that apparently never actually amplified his damage, and nerfed his Q damage at the same time.

  3. removed his silence.

He sees some play in MLG and suddenly he's OP?

A better comparason would be with Kassadin's or leblanc's silences. Oh wait. Those got removed too. Maybe compare it to malzahar's silence? Course that is a skillshot.....

They removed the .5 second silence from Viktor's ult as well.
