Having trouble with Ctrl A selecting text in game.

Everyone who knows about Doinb has seen that he spams chat with summoner spells timers. I was trying to do the same but I'm unable to actually use ctrl a in game it does nothing. I also tried using ctrl up and other various inputs and nothing works. I looked in game settings, in persisted settings, and input.ini and there is nothing in there about select all. It works out of game just fine and also works in the league client but in game it doesn't work.
