Might really be done with league... the problem is ranked matchmaking
Climbing from silver 4 to gold 5 makes almost zero difference in who you are matched against. You are still matched with all the unrankeds and silver 5's you proved yourself to be better than. All climbing means is you are given a greater burden of carrying the same players you always played against. Yes, eventually I'll climb out of high gold I think, perhaps to plat within this season, but it's just way too damn time consuming. I don't like playing the hard carry role EVERY GAME, and league is supposed to support a variety of play styles. Yet you have to carry harder and harder if you want to get to where you are playing against a decent pool of players.
The system just caters to the deadweight players, by design; Riot doesn't want anyone losing too much and quitting. I am not sure if a player floats at say silver 5, being carried almost half their games, or if those deadweight players are somewhat nomadic, rotating between silver and bronze. But the group mmr fails to provide the vast majority (at gold 5 I was top 20% of ranked, not sure what it is now) of players with a competition against and with players of a similar skill level.
So yea, LoL isn't the competitive game for you if you want to face up against equally skilled players after proving your mettle. The diamond+ players are the few that went through Riot's game of "carry crappy players ad nauseum" until they could finally play against players who did the same, who may or may not at that point have learned proper strategy for higher level play as thus far all they've had to do is carry players who generally speaking make the game into a disorganized mess.
