The funniest thing.
If you keep your E off cooldown for Zed with Veigar, you can literally just force him to land on the stun.
Yet trying to do something like that with Zed requires you to break Veigar's 2.5 second stun if he's not keen on whiffing all of his abilities.
Also the same people that think Flash is "mandatory" and "required" "just to play", but use flash so ineffectively that Clarity would be a better choice.
Zed's ult has a much lower CD to be fair, so he can get a second one up before Zhonya's comes online again.
But with the slight difference that you can either completely stop Zeds death mark from even being put onto you, which is not hard to do at all, or completely negate its damage, which isnt hard either since Zhonyas lasts 2 years.

I think a lot of people have the issue with zed is that people slap on the 'buy zhonya's' against zed for every AP laner who fights him without regarding how they actually lane against Zed. It's unlikely most midlaners will acquire enough gold before he hits six to actually get Zhonya's- especially with how actually decent his early laning is.
It's really a lose/lose situation for AP's against zed, because they have two choices:
- farm for zhonya's and forfeit mana and mana regen just to survive zed's combo
- farm for their most beneficial item and forego survivability.
The only real solution is QSS, which is only good for death mark.
Surprisingly enough, you can use Zhonyas to dodge Zed's combo and you can use QSS to remove Veigar's stun.
Sorry I forgot the part where the manaless assassin with the oppressive laning phase who can safely push you to your tower forces you to forgo mana regen entirely for a suboptimal first item that sets you heavily behind and allows him to continue pushing and roaming while also leaving you crippled as far as doing anything other than surviving goes.
But yeah let's totally compare Veigar and Zed.
Veigar might be a tad overpowered at the moment but he's nowhere near as bad as Zed is when Zed is even slightly strong.
