While playing ARAM, i noticed Nunu's E was nerfed

Playing full AP Nunu in an ARAM, i noticed that his E scaling was no long 1.00 ap.

I had to go look this up, and I found out that Rito nerfed the scaling to 0.9, and also reduced its base damage at later levels. They did reduce the cooldown and increase the slow at earlier levels... but they decreased the slow duration, and they decreased the damage.

It used to have a flat 6 second cooldown, and now decreases to 4 seconds at max rank. With CDR, 6 seconds ->4 seconds if really negligible.

Yep, they buffed him, by nerfing his base damage AND scaling, nerfing this slow duration, and by shaving off 2 seconds off of his E at max rank.

Nunu is mostly played in the jungle, and mostly builds full tank... So why nerf his AP ratio? Nunu

Do you like math? I'm going to give you some math because I don't think you understand how ratios work.

Let's start with this:

With CDR, 6 seconds ->4 seconds if really negligible.

4 subtracted from 6 is 2 seconds. How much of 6 seconds is 2 seconds? One third. That is a 33% reduction in the ability's cooldown. That means anything it does over time is now 33% stronger

With that in mind, let's look at some of the numbers. For reference, here's the section of the patch notes:

COOLDOWN 6 seconds at all ranks ⇒ 6/5.5/5/4.5/4 seconds COST 75/85/95/105/115 mana ⇒ 70/75/80/85/90 mana SLOW DURATION 3 seconds ⇒ 2 seconds SLOW STRENGTH 20/30/40/50/60% ⇒ 40/45/50/55/60% BASE DAMAGE 85/130/175/225/275 magic damage ⇒ 80/120/160/200/240 magic damage RATIO 1.0 ability power ⇒ 0.9 ability power

Using rank 5 Ice Blast with 0% CDR, here's the pre- and post-change frequency calculations.

Mana cost per second: 19 -> 23 - a 21% increase Slow uptime: 50% -> 50% Base damage per second: 46 -> 60 - a 30% increase AP damage per second: 0.17 -> 0.225 - a 32% increase

This is a buff. Even with the mana cost increase, the increase in AP damage and base damage is much higher, with no loss in slow uptime.

TL;DR you don't understand math and should go learn it before you try to talk about champion numbers.
