another look at the new mana changes, the other side of things and why it's not so bad

so riot made mid mages go back to the standard of pick and choose your engages and harrass early game, is it worth it to spam your skills to farm or harrass? or should you save that mana and last hit until your jungler comes.

seriously when i was maining mid last season i don't even know why we had a mana pool other than to justify finishing one mana regen item the only time i ever had to think about mana was lvl 1-4 (depending on the champ) after that i could spam whatever whenever with no consequences .

instead of nerfing the energy pool or buffing the mana pool of champs what we really need is more variety of mana regen and mana items (this would open the doors for new builds and "diversity" and to adapt to the other team without losing a chunk power , if they bring more diversity this season i'd like to see more item choices for all roles

speaking of those energy champs they should get a big nerf, and along with that nerf an item selection for energy champs maybe just different build paths for traditional items that leads to buffs to energy regen or max energy. this way they have to think more about engaging in the early game and cant spam harrass all lane without being punished for it

Last season, I literally had a build where I could NOT run out of mana. And I tried. I regen'd it faster than I could deplete it. Something ain't right about that.

I started playing before Athene's was in the game and CoH was basically a sign that you were either playing Galio or unskilled and lacked the ability to manage mana.

Glad to see CoH get nerfed into being something that will help with mana a little but bit not solve all your problems.

You would have never seen Ziggs being a super big pick or ban champ in season 4 with the current CoH because he would actually be limited by his mana.

Now riot if you would please nerf Zed since he is the main issue of manaless champs that has too good of wave clear that would be nice.

energy champions are weird because they can throw out their whole kit in one burst. that's how it's supposed to be designed. the problem is that they regen so fast that by the time their cooldowns ar eback, they have most of their resource back as well. that's a problem.

mana champions are weird because they're limited by both cooldowns and resource. theoretically they should be able to "blow their load" in one big go. that's the whole idea behind a mana gated champion - gated by resource more than all other gates. except they can't blow their load in that sense, and using their abilities has a more permanent effect since they dont regen like an energy champion.

so really it seems that mana should be a burst mechanic and energy should be a sustained damage mechanic, but currently that's the opposite of how champions are designed.

OP's early attitude in his post makes me feel like nothing else he says is worth listening to.

They should really put a mana cost on auto attacks to even out the score. Why do ad users get unlimited sustain and damage while mages have to pick and choose when they can play the game. Why are adcs better than mages ?

As a kat luver, I benefit from these mana changes a lot. That does not make it fair to those who are attempting to play mages.

Why when a mage is at 30 percent health does he have to base, when a adc can walk around the corner and kill some jungle monsters and be full heath and back in the fight in 5 seconds.
