I would really loved if a rioter responded to this post just to see what riot thinks about the balance revolving around tanks. Lets see what tanks are supposed to do

  • Tank Dmg for their carries

  • Peel for them

  • And have some CC in their kit

But in reality tanks do one more thing..

  • THEY DEAL TONS OF DAMAGE

While being hard(sometimes impossible) to kill and the hard CC we have a combination that is really unbalanced and unfun to play especially against. So i have come up with ways to make tanks have that unique play style. Riot said that they are planning in a class rework after Worlds,probably on assassins,i would recommend to rework tanks and their items. This rework should be focused on giving tanks the play style they should have,mentioned above.

The ratios on tanks:

  • ad/ap should be lowered but to a point of full ap or full ad will work

  • Health ratios especially on damaging abilities should be removed(being tank means no damage unless you build damage)

*Armor/Mr can stay because they can be tweaked more easily.

Tank items:

  • Only tank focused items(only tank stats)Should get their stats lowered or make the cost higher so they are more difficult to get
  • Iceborn Gauntlet Should be removed because it helps tanks being unkiteable and deal more damage,or nerf it to the point its only used by bruisers Thats what i think about tanks i am really interesting on hearing your opinion on that subject and Riots opinion too

If tanks do zero damage and don't scale at all then why would anyone play them outside of support role. The answer....they wouldn't. Most tanks don't really do burst damage. They do multiple spell rotations and damage over time in a fight and it is usually AOE. This gives them fairly high damage to champions, especially if the entire enemy team sits right next to them. A stat that really doesn't mean anything. You can do a lot of damage to champions and still lose a game.

What tanks are doing MASSIVE damage anyway? Really, list the tanks and tell me who is doing massive damage. Is it Shen, Rammus, Sion, Nautilus, Alistar, Sejuani, Amumu, Singed, Blitzcrank, Galio, Cho'gath, Poppy, J4, Leona, Malphite, or Maokai?

Those are the champs the games lists as primary tanks.

If you nerf the current tanks then people will just play other champions with a tankier build and they will fulfill the same role. Do you really want every tank to be like Alistar and all be relegated to the support role? Because that's where they would go. If you force tanks to build straight damage to play in a solo lane then they wouldn't be tanky enough to be tanks anymore.

Then guess what happens. You just get one or two shot by another ADC, APC, or Assassin and come on the forums and complain about that because your tank didn't survive long enough to peel for you.

The design you are talking about just won't work in this game outside of the support role. And the support role is the least played because of that.

Yeah that might work in some dungeon game with NPC's that have aggro and everything else. Or maybe in a pvp capture the flag game where the tank carries it.

I'm pretty sure your complaint is that tank items are just too good on champions that have no abilities that scale with those items and not about tanks at all.

This is a tank. Notice the large cannon. It does large amounts of damage. It is also capable of disrupting enemy movements just by the threat of it existing. They often carry Electronic warfare modules to help disrupt enemies as well. They have large amounts of armor which make them fairly difficult to actually destroy.

Just because an assassin builds defensively, that doesn't make them a tank class; they're abusing free damage in their kit and exploiting the lack of requirement for more offensive items to deal damage. Conversely, don't expect to take 5 minutes to die when you don't build any defense on a marksman; a squishy is called such for a reason, easy to die.

the thing is tanks were never meant not to do damage if you invest nothing into defense do your really expect to take no damage even though most carries can just life steal their way out of it if they are ad. Tanks are slow less mobile have longer cooldown spells and less damage then other classes their value as tanks hasnt been much since before black market brawlers patch and their items have been getting nerfed from before that up to date
