Suggestions That Won't Hurt Riot But Will Really Help New Players
So a little backstory (You don't really have to read this this is just letting you guys know where I'm coming from. The suggestions are below this paragraph): I started playing late season 3. I played W3 RoC (was one of the top 100 Hero Wars players in the world) and TFT (Wasn't even close to top 500 Dota players in the world and I was there when it first got started, but my clan mates were really good so I got to learn the basic ideas of this game there). After the tutorial I was fairly cocky so I decided to just start with normal games and see what happened. I got totally destroyed by the enemy team's yi. He bumrushed me every fight and danced over my dead body about 17 times and I had to watch as that bright blue cloak was trampled on by the true master who is always a student. He wouldn't stop there though he made sure we all knew how amazing he was by talking shit in all chat the entire time. By the end of the game each member on my team felt lousy about his/herself. I literally almost said screw this game I'm quitting and left. Fortunately, a bunch of my friends started suggesting new champs such as Nasus and Akali that I might like in order for the game to be more fun. I clicked with Nasus immediately, but I really found my stride with Akali when she was in her huge hay day. I averaged about 20-40 kills a game while jamming out to Capital Cities's Safe and Sound on repeat. I had a blast, but unfortunately when I got to 30 - which happened pretty quickly - I really only knew how to play about 4-5 champs at a decent enough level to be serviceable at ranked level play. After having to learn a host of new champs and 2 new roles really (I never supported or played jg until I was in ranked - S/O big sorry to those teams I was on back then). Because of that I think the grind is actually good for players. It's not good for them to be able to shoot up levels because they usually only learn one playstyle, only really know one maybe two roles well, don't understand the importance of vision, and they don't understand basic macro movements around the map such as don't send 5 people to baron around the 50 minute mark when the other team is rushing down your mid lane (S/O to Team Coast against Dignitas).
Suggestions:
-
Instead of the once a day IP boost how bout it is a Once a Day/Every 5th Win IP boost whichever comes quicker. That way if someone finds a champ they really like on free week rotation they can spam that champ for the week pick up a bunch of wins and realistically have a chance of buying that champ. I feel like this would help more players in terms of finding their own play style and which champions fit that mold as well as getting more players hooked on the game. This would even help older players who haven't got all the rune pages unlocked or still have 3-4 champs they never got around to unlocking.

In all games pre-10 have the champ select randomize which role the player is going. Players don't know what an adc, jungler or support is. They just know top, mid, or bot. Then the champ select could highlight the champs of that role in blue or something so the player knows what champs fulfill the role that he/she has been assigned to play that game. I feel like this would allow new players to test the waters and find the multiple niches in the game that he/she truly enjoys.

Teach players how to mute in the tutorial. This would be so helpful because I like to think of new players as little babies and I don't want them to get hurt by the big scary bm yi who's actually a plat 3 but he had a bad day at work so he decided to take it out on a bunch of unsuspecting kids who just want to play League for fun.

Let every new player fill out a survey of the parts of the game that they think they would really enjoy and give them a free champ that fits the mold of what that player would like to play. For instance: If a player was brand new in 5.16 and said they liked the idea of being a giant tank who is virtually unkillable, but they also wanted to 1v5 slay the entire enemy team then obviously that player would get Garen - although that's kind of a rip off because Garen only costs 450 IP BUT THEY WOULD NEVER KNOW. This would make the player immediately feel like Riot cares about them individually. This would also help new players learn how to play AGAINST more champs. The poll needs to be more than just a generic which role suits you best: Tank, Brawler, Supportive, Assassin, Mage, Marksmen. I think if it has a possibility of the player getting one of at least eighty unique champs then the player will be really excited. This will lead to more interest in the game from more new players. The greater increase will lead to more purchases of IP from these new players. The increase in purchases will lead to a greater net income. And the greater net income will lead to more investors wanting to be a part of a company with shiny financial reporting numbers when you guys finally decide to become a publicly traded company.
I'm open to more suggestions from you guys and I really hope Riot replies because I feel like if you guys really nail down the beginning stages of the game then your game will really blossom into all of its potential.
Also I'm open to more suggestions for the poll I mentioned for descriptions of possible champions that players may want to play.
- I think I would enjoy being a fighter who does a ton of damage and I will pick the one who can stay at 1 health for about 30 seconds and laugh at the enemy team as i destroy their souls - Tryndamere
- I think it would be fun to play a champion that could appear on the show Supernatural. Hmmm, the one called Spawn of Satan sounds fun I'll choose him - Teemo
- I've never had a conversation with a member of the opposite sex - Amumu
I think there's a lot of potential here.
