What happened to the new 'on my way' ping?

When I saw this post I remember I was really hyped about this new on my way ping, it sounds a lot better and makes decision making as a team more concise. But it was never added for some reason. We got the 15 minute surrender vote which was a great addition so what happened to the new ping?
