To: Those who QQ about Sion
The only reason Sion is even considered OP is because people just don't know how to play against him. I picked up Sion awhile back and I've put in many games with him in every role. I like Sion because he is one of the few bruisers/tanks that can apply such strong lane pressure through poke and wave clear while also providing hybrid damage and a phenomenal engage. However, you have to realize that all four of his skills are skill shots with very limited and situational range and in order for him to use them he has to be uncomfortably close to the enemy. Additionally, when Sion goes all-in he is very vulnerable because he is a big slow character model with a gap closer that is difficult to use. Your allies really have to know how to play with a Sion, because he needs others to follow up with his initiates and provide opportunities to land his skill shots.
I haven't seen very many people play Sion to his strengths, even in the high level of play games on the LoL client. He is a simple champion to understand, so most anyone can take him top and do well. He's the right kind of balanced, he can become a powerhouse with proper knowledge of game mechanics, but he is not unreasonably powerful because he has clearly defined weaknesses.
With that said, I do believe Sion is one of the few champs who has no true counter. His kit has just enough tools to deal with the enemy, allowing counterplay for both parties. There just isn't any one champion that is going to shut him down. There are some champions that give him more trouble than others, but no champion is going to be able to keep him from poking, farming and roaming unless he's being outplayed.
Finally, here's some food for thought: I honestly believe Sion's strongest role is support. Building hybrid penetration, with 21/9/0 masteries followed by Flash and Teleport allow him to grab a quick and easy level 2 (and extra pots/wards) and harass the enemy ADC and Support from a position of power during the early and mid game. As support he gets to build the Spellthief's Edge which gives him more poking power, mana sustain and the Frost Queen's Claim active allows him to lock an enemy down when he dies and uses his passive. In the bottom lane, he gets two targets to harass with his E, he has a shield for trading and he can easily push the lane which allows for easier objective control, he shines in team fights and skirmishes and finally he is one of the few champions with true wave clear. At some point his presence ends up functioning very much like a solo laner. The key to succeeding in lane is to play patiently and run the enemy down over time while you and your partner ADC become stronger through superior CS and higher level. However, if you don't land your E or you and your partner ADC become overconfident, he is really easy to kill. You have to sacrifice a lot of tankiness to do appreciable damage, he is vulnerable when moving in to use his Q and his W and once he uses his cooldowns he becomes much less threatening.
If you are a new player and need a safe laner and versatile pick? Why not try Sion, he is a great champion to learn the game with. What do you guys think?

as my essential items (Not counting MR if needed), and my rank 3 ult has 36 second cooldown due to the 40% CDR from these two items. Quite possibly one of the best feelings in the game IMO is getting two ults off within a single prolonged teamfight.
