Which Champions are unable to be played in the support role due to their kit?
Tried a few off meta support and some work and are very fun ,others not so much.
But which are just impossible to make work as support?

Diana support is just a pathetic and terrible idea. It's the only role I won't play her in. She needs levels, she needs expensive items. Support isn't going to give her either of those.
On top of that, she goes OOM after less than two and a half full rotations, her only poke is her Q which also pushes the wave if the enemy stands near it, her only CC is a light pull/slow that requires her to be within a Teemo or two of the enemy, AND after 6 when she has her ult, she delivers herself on a silver platter to whoever she dives(Due to the support income/EXP difference).
Anyone with low/0 utility that requires expensive items. If your buy is cheap, you can survive on supp income and still be relevant, opening up another slot for your team in the other lane (velkoz, zyra). If you have utility (preferably not on the ult) then that's gold independent and you can use your kit to influence the game until you eventually get gold (Camille, trundle)
Usually champions that are highly level- or gold-reliant with low CC or utility.
would be the classic example, but a lot of assassins fit there as well.

prerework
were some of the worst off meta supps of all time. Looking through the first quarter of champs,
stands out, she has no readily available/useful cc and her melee range prevents any regular poking, the most she could do is bodyblock some projectile cc using parry but thats hardly even niche.
Lots of people saying level and gold dependent champs and i'm here just
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMING
While I will say Taric has some innate utility to rely on but Sona depends entirely on income and levels to get her utility running
Support is more of a generalization than hardset class; assuming your team isn't hostile and actually has synergy playing together.
Problem is that some champions have more tools, or more useful tools that make them better supports. Alistar for example can stop enemies in their tracks like atrox, but can also heal his teammates; janna like nidalee can poke and defend her ally, yet janna's poke is also a crowd control. Another example would be blitzcrank, originally a top lane bruiser back when he came out; but as ranged physical carries got more mobility, he ended up relegated to support, since he excelled at holding them still.
On the other hand, some supports aren't particularly good paired with some carries; such as braum & graves, sure they're both close range, but because graves has to reload, it'd be rough for them to consistently use braum's stun. Whereas lucian & braum are complimentary since lucian can get an extra auto-attack for free, making braum's stun happen more often.
Again if you have friends willing to be flexible, you'd be surprised what can work; it's not just what support is good, but also which support will empower your carry without much resources (as supports are often the most behind). The most amusing example I had seen was yasou bottom with ahri support; sure she had very little damage, but since she rarely used anything but her charm, she didn't run out of mana.
While some champions are clearly meant to be supports and nothing else, like soraka & sona, there's still plenty of room for other champions to be played. Yes most of it'll be opinions, but firsthand experience can be the best teacher for you; seeing which combinations can work together, as well as which champions are flatout ineffective in other roles.

Lux.
Any ADC who isn't Miss Fortune or Ashe.
Any Assassin who isn't Pyke.
Scaling Mages like Azir, Ryze, Cassiopeia.
Scaling Fighters like Kayle (She has a supportive kit sure but is VERY item reliant)
