Ok so you came here to this thread because it seems like every game some scum picked riven top lane well here's how to counter her: step 1: Don't even dare look at your minions because riven will rekt you with Q which counts as 3 abilities in 1 so just sit under tower while she takes all the cs ( hey its better than feeding and having your team flame you) step 2: always keep a healthy health bar and a flash ready so when the scumy riven main dives into your tower with her bullshit shield you can just run around tower and if she has and her ult, just flash our as soon as you see her activate her ult step 3: (optional) if you die once to her just afk you can't really do anything against her you gave it your best rito knows you tried that's all that matters step 4: (optional) try to get your team to FF at the 15 minute mark the game is already over by then And congratulations you countered riven by not having to spend 20 minutes of your life trying to beat a broken champion (Why else would you play riven duh?")

Riven is one of those champions that Riot allows to be game-breakingly broken. There is no effective way of balancing her.

"Muh autoattack animation canceling, muh jumps, muh combos, muh skill" are the usual Riven arguments against nerfs and it works. Riot will not touch Riven simply because she's "hard to use but overwhelmingly broken in the hands of a good player".

Pretty funny seeing things like this when Riven has more hard counters than the majority of champions in League of Legends. Champions like Jayce Quinn Renekton Poppy Darius Gragas Illaoi Pantheon Garen Volibear Kennen have the potential to completely trash Riven when equal in terms of skill. I have no idea where you are getting these ideas but they're completely wrong.

From a statistical standpoint, Riven is one of the most balanced champions in the entire game. She has just about ALWAYS sat between a 48 - 52% win rate, which is pretty impressive because that's the exact win percentage you'd want to be seeing for a "balanced" champion design.

FYI if you are losing to Riven, that doesn't make the champion broken. It means that you either don't understand how Riven works, or the other players are more experienced and have better decision making than you do.

Well,at least it's more of an entertaining kind of rant. GJ on that,but Riven is broken only if people know how to play her,so she isn't,because that can be applied to almost all champs.

I bet riven all the time with Yasuo . I know it seems like she counters him, but really all that minion dashing will save you if you're constantly moving around.

Step 1: Chose Poppy, Irelia, Garen or Mordekeiser

Step 2: Easily win every trade in lane forcing Riven to play passive

Step 3: Continue to dive Riven over and over and once you're a healthy 7-0, feel free to roam and destroy the rest of the enemy team.

How to counter Riven in a few simple ways:

-If she has Ignite, let yourself get pushed in while lasthitting and let your Jungler come Lv3, so you either kill her or chunk her down, so she doesnt even attempt to initiate against you.

-If youre able to, kill the minions asap for the Lv2 spike. Her entire Q does like no damage at all, so she has to AA, drawing minion aggro and if you have more minions, she will get outtraded.

-Abuse her Q CD. If she uses it as a gapcloser, she cant use it to deal damage, so abuse it.

-Let her eat damage whenever you can. She regenerates less than 1 hp per second, like 0,7. Every bit of damage counts.

-Rush Ninja Tabi. Not only does it decrease her entire damage with the 30 Armor, her AAs are what deal the most damage with the passive early on, so ye, 10% reduced damage on top of the armor.

Dont get greedy when fighting her. She can always turn around and kill you with the CC and shield.

Really depends on who you are. . .I was singed and if I'm not mistaken Rive > Singed. I managed to kill her 2x (or get her killed. I didn't exactly get the kill during the gank) pretty much by a gank and throwing her into my tower but even than, once she gets items like black cleaver, she will wreck melees that don't have CCs like singed :/

Personally I love facing Riven. Seen enough of her to be able to beat her with people she actually counters. Of course it's even more fun to counter her and stomp her silly. But lately, unless she brings ignite, she isn't going to win. Even with ignite if I get the kills instead of her, she loses levels and gets demolished.

As a Riven main myself:

If she's at level 1-2 she will not bother trading with you unless you're fighting a bad Riven. Oh, you're fighting a bad Riven? Then you will win. Step 1 is moot. Around level 3, her high CD will prevent better trades if you just walk away. When she is on CD, rush her and counter the trade and you will have won.
Flash won't save you from a turret diving Riven and if you think it will, that's why you'll lose. If you're at around 50% life or if you're 100% but a squishy champion, she's going to ult you and you will die if she can land her combo. She won't even ult at the start, she'll often do it after a spell-cast such as Ki Burst or with her E. If she's running toward you, run the hell away.
Takes about two kills or 4-5 waves of minions for her to buy all early items. I know this because I've been in both scenarios.
OK.

Actually to counter Riven, you'll need sustain and mobility. You'll also need skill. Champs that counter Riven are XinZhao Mordekaiser Quinn and Pantheon .

Riven at early game can struggle against ganks too, but her CDs must be up and you must be able to immobilize her to effectively kill her.

Pick DrMundo Grab hp/lvl seals and quints, none for armor Start game with item 1029 item 2031 Turtle and farm with your cleavers and your E, don't bother getting W because you will never use it against her anyway, don't put your neck on the line for a last hit, even if that means missing an easy last hit, because you don't want to trade with Riven because you won't win that trade, it's fine to let her be even 10 cs ahead if that's what it takes to be full hp in lane Rush item 3047 item 3076 Laugh because you're immune to Riven and if she tries to fight you, your cleavers and headbutts will hit her stupidly hard Build a item 3046 right after these two items, proceed to automatically win any 1v1 against Riven

If Riven tps out to help or shoves the lane to your tower then rotates, you ping her a lot, often, and hard; and then you proceed to push the lane with your maxed Q and E, because you destroy minions pretty quickly. If nobody comes to defend the turret, you eat through it in a single push
