Need Help Finding A Role To Main

I need help. I love playing the game and want to get better, however I am very frustrated. I can't find a role that I enjoy playing so much as to get better, playing a favorite champions, working on game knowledge, etc. What should I do? No matter how many different roles I try playing I can't decide.

here's something close to what really helped me early in the game to decide on my roles(very cheesy and very long but a friend said something around this, so blame him, not me):

Do you enjoy being able to tank a ton of damage and be a cc monster to get you team ahead. Or maybe be able to outplay anyone in a 1v1 situation with your kit and mechanics. Then you'd love to be the ** Top Lane**

Do you enjoy not having to worry about last hitting and focus more on the map. Be it getting you team kills or make sure you can get the dragon or barons. Then you can play **Jungle! ** Lets say you want to step up and become one of the carries of the game. Landing skillshots left and right, being able to clear out any way of minions with your AOE and make the other team's ADC's life living hell. Then you'd enjoy being mid

If your looking to BE a game decider, where if you can get a lead and keep it, you can turn an entire game due to your damage and mechanical outplay. Try out ADCarry

If you're just more worried about helping your team out, making sure they live through things and make some of the biggest impacts on the game(even if others don't see it) due to your sheilds or heals or cc. Play** Support**.

Once you've found what role you found to be useful you can break it down even further to the roles:

Top Lane: So you've decided on being the lone wolf up in the top lane.

If you want be able to tank a ton of damage, while locking down the other team's carries with your CC, and you want to be the one to start those fights. Then maybe a Tank top laner would work well for you! Try out Sion Malphite or Maokai all have great engage and can take a beating.

Or maybe you want to be able to duel anyone up in the top lane. You want to be able to get in and burst someone with out them being able to do much to you back. You're always willing to try and take on a 2v1 situation and usually come out of it with a double kill. A carry top laner could work for you! Fiora Darius and Jax are some of the stronger duelers in the game and make great impact if you know them well.

Jungle So you want to be the thing lurking in the fog of war wait for the right time to take on the dragon or another champion.

If you want to be able to lurk in the bush and jump out of it taking someone out in seconds, bursting them again and again. What you lack in CC you make up for in damage. An Assassin jungle is the way to go. Rengar Khazix and Nocturne are some good assassin jungles, they have a great gap closer and can delete who they please.

If you looking to focus more on tanking more damage for your team while locking down a whole team, then a tank jungle does just that! If your looking for a team lock down Amumu or Zac can do that. While being unkilable cc chaining 1 guy again and again till he dies, Vi or Sejuani works better.

Mid Lane You wanna be one of the carries, be warned, Mid is one of the most popular roles!

If you wanna focus more on cc and zoning the enemies out of an engage or farm, and being able to poke everyone with your AOE, while just waiting to team fighting, then control mages are the way to go! people like Xerath Lux or Orianna all do a great job of this

If your more wanting to go in delete someone then get out, while being a major threat to any team. Assassin mids do just that! Zed Fizz and Leblanc are all REALLY good assassins

ADCarry So your planning on stepping up and be the true carry of a game, good luck!

If your looking to play for that insane DPS 1v5 kind of champion, then you'll have to deal with a BAD early game, but you play for late game and try to carry. Pick the late game hyper carries. Vayne Twitch and KogMaw all have some of the highest DPS numbers in the game. They're all hard to play, but once mastered, can carry almost ANY GAME.

If your looking to play for that early game, getting the lead and try and snowball the game with your Early to Mid game powerspikes, then the Early game ADCs are the way to go. MissFortune Draven and Lucian all do this. Mind you your early game damage is INSANE, you may fall off a bit compared to other ADCs late game, but you are always good.

If you want to play the safe lane, stopping the other team from farming by poking them again and again, then the poke ADCs are good for that. Ezreal Caitlyn and Sivir are hell to face. They can stay back and continuously poke and poke and poke all through out the lane, then in teamfights they're SO hard to get to due to some range

Support So you chose to be the Bitch of the team, good on you! We need more people like you!

If you enjoy being cc for your ADC while being able to keep them alive or engage by locking people down and not taking much damage, tank supports OP. Braum Leona and Thresh all keep their ADCs alive, while spoon feeding them kills.

If you want to see your team succeed due to your buffs(and get no credit for) and be able to continuously heal, shield or buff your allies then utility supports are the way to go! Try out Janna Sona or Lulu all have buffs for your allies and are a great addition to any team comp.

So i hope this helped, even a little. Don't feel like once you pick a role you HAVE to stick with it. I use to be a Jungle main then went to support, now i'm an ADC player(Lucian/Vayne) who picks up assassin jungles as secondary who can't really stand playing Top lane tanks. You can move around, but experiment with them, and have fun! [slayer-jinx-catface] PS: Sorry for it being so long!

honestly, start with the champs. Find what champions are fun for you and go from there. A lot of champions can even be played in 3+ roles :)

I ended up realize how much the game relies on jungling and how so many junglers are actually quite bad at the role. So I main jungle now and I usually do quite well at it.

I would say find a role that you really enjoy, then try and learn what ever champ is usually really op for your elo (make sure that it is the right play style for you). For me that was top with nasus, the unranked- low gold elo tends to not respect Nasus that much and as a result you can then 1 shot squishies and kill towers in 3-4 q’s. For supp I think that leona and soraka are very good choices. Lots of CC and tankyness from leona, and an absolute mad amount of heals from soraka.

But Hencho101’s comment is way more informative
