Is Aram really completely random?

I feel like I see certain champions a bit too much compared to other champions. It makes the game really repetetive and boring as the same champions keep popping up. Is there some system that forces certain champions more than others?

it is random, however random =/= equal chance. its been a while but I think riot said a few years back: champion you own have a x2 or a x3 chance over the free rotation picks. so you are more likely to get a champion you actually own and enjoy to play.

I think the best example would be to use a die. 1-4/5 you will get to play a champ you like 4/5-6 you will play a champion you don't know/own. rolling the dice is random, but the probability is not.

No, because people have accounts that just contains champs like Veigar, Lux, Ashe, Xerath and other poke heavy oriented champions.

That's why they should put a ban system so we can see a larger variety of champions instead of the same pool of champions every game.

the champ pool is this. 98% free champ pool. 2% champs you actually own.

It is NOT completely random. Only partially random.

The champion you roll is based on what you have available. Free Champions in addition to whatever you actually own. Someone already supplied the math on that; so, I won't copy pasta it in my response.

Then you have the re-roll mechanic that allows players who have completed an ARAM match to reroll a champion they do not wish to play.

Champions that are re-rolled are then up for grabs to any ally.

Additionally, players are able to trade champions.

Players may also queue up with friends whose champion pool is identical to theirs so as to increase the odds of them rolling their preferred champions.

In summation, the randomness of ARAM is not absolute. Players have quite a bit of control over the champion they may play simply by having their owned champion pool reduced.

This is why ARAM only accounts exist and is why players have repeatedly suggested to make ARAM a truly random experience by having all champions unlocked for all players regardless of what they do or do not own. I suspect Riot refuses to do this as it would likely upset the players who have meticulously crafted ARAM only accounts through smart purchases. Players who have likely bought skins for their ARAM champions. And Riot is unlikely to make any decision to improve the state of the game if the decision is liable to threaten their sales.

riot made it semi-random because true random didn't feel random enough. or relatively random is perhaps a better word. that applies to all accounts.

this is before we consider what champs people have access to and aram accounts. so no it's not random random.

I have all champions and I don't think it's completely random i think popular champions have a higher chance of being drawn.
