Xin Zhao Mini-Rework Patch 7.19

Hi guys, I'm a year one League player jungle main. Been one tricking Xin Zhao a bit these last couple of weeks and when I saw he was getting a mini-rework was on board. I don't love it. I think the biggest issue is that his attack speed buff isn't self target-able. If you're pushing down a turret, or want to trigger it without jumping onto a target, I think that should be an option. Just a little alt-e action and boom, instant attack speed. This is a nerf to his split pushing power. In addition, I think his new W is weird. I get the idea. You use it after the knock up for extra AOE dmg and a slow before you go back to clobbering and it's nice that you have an option now for something ranged-ish but it just feels like ass. I always want to spam it in my combo instead of using it late and it's dmg is weirdly not that interesting. Maybe if i applied like on-hit affects like Renekton does with his W then it would fit into the kit of someone like Xin Zhao better but right now it's just an unimpressive spear swing that you as the player are focusing on not using to maximize dmg output. That's my two cents. I would love to hear more from the community and fellow Xin Zhao players. Thanks.

His tower pushing is better now because his passive works on turrets. You'll get to E a near by minions most of the time anyways. Personally, I think the rework is good, they just need to adjust some numbers. He'd be legit imo if they gave his W a tiny bit more damage and removed the damage reduction to minions on it. If I could land it reliably the damage would be fine, but it's actually a very obviously choreographed ability that people will get used to dodging soon. It's his ult I'm kinda meh about since it's just useless vs melee champs. I'd suggest an adaptive shield (like Camille's passive) after ult cast depending on the last person you E/auto'd.

I feel you. It was weird for me at first not having the W for attack speed boost. But his E now gives attack speed to make up for that absence. Scales about the same as the old W as well. Hop in with E, Q and you can cast the W immediately or save it if they somehow get out. Not to mention the ult damage is the same and now enemies outside of the circle that forms around him after he tilts can't damage him. And Q still does cooldowns on all abilities and his passive still gives you the 3 hit heal to sustain in a fight or just in the jungle in general. I've been playing xin for a couple years, one of my best and favorite champs and it is definitely weird that he's different, but once you play for awhile I bet you'll get used to it.

his old W passive worked on turrets be fore the loss of the old W is a pain in the ass.

Honestly I would be happy if they just made his E self-targetable kind of like Lee Sin W so you can use it while smashing through turrets without using it on a nearby minion.

Thx Oldest Man! you made the point clear. I myself also play main jgl and I used to love Xin Zhao. But this new W is just confusing and has no real sense/use. It is just some little extra dmg but not really worth sth. I thought it might also be nice after E / Q to give a fleeing enemy that little extra dmg to kill him , but it is not really working with that delay ... Sad I think the old Xin Zhao was perfectly fine everything added up but now...
