Solo Q vs Flex Q questions for a support player

Hi.

As I've asked this in a different post I thought I would ask here in general, what are your opinions about Flex Q when attempting to get in by yourself? Good/Bad idea and why? The thing is, I feel sometimes like Solo Q is just a cluster, and the roles that I like to play (mid/support, but ive been getting 100% support), well for support in general, maybe Flex Q would be better?

Fellow supports: Have you found Flex Q to be easier or harder to support main in? By the way, are they different divisions altogether? Say, If I was Silver in Solo could I be Gold in Flex?

Same problems different queue.

Each queue does habe it's own rankings. I started B2 in flex, and S5 in Solo. I am S4 in solo, and my flex topped at B1 but has tanked to B3. I don't play solo as much, but have been able to win much more consistantly.

Flex queue at low ELO is horrible for a support player.

The players are worse in general, and significantly more toxic and overall are more likely to provide a negative playing experience.

O_O I'm not sure how Flex could be worse than Solo Q, although interestingly enough, this brings me back. So, before divisions, the 700's had a bunch of all stars in it (trolly af, yet allstars), but the closer you got to 1200 the more derp-tastic the players you ran into were. LOL, that to me was ELO hell, because...

well, because, by time you were good enough to get 1200+ you were way under it, and then as you carried yourself out of 700, 800, 900, got into 1000 you started seeing "HEY GUIZE WUT DO", as league was still relatively new.

It was absolute hilarity. 700 players were so proud to be 700, I think we should revert back to raw numbers =(

Flex is where I go to practice random shit. Solo is where I go to play.

I saw a guy on forums here with challenger flex Q, and gold solo Q (also gold last season)

So flex is the queue where people jerk off in new roles

It depends, are you entering Flex as part of a premade, or solo?

If you enter Flex as a support main and part of a premade, you'll probably make diamond or higher. The key to getting ahead in Flex is to have a bigger and better premade than the other team, and not a lot of teams have a premade support since the players that like filling that role the vast majority of the time (like in a premade) are... rare.

If you enter Flex solo, it depends on what kind of premade your team has vs the enemy team's premade (a.k.a. whether your premade will carry you or not). If you communicate with your premade, you should win more games than you'll lose and rise to maybe gold/plat; perhaps higher.

And of course as a baseline in soloQ, playing support in lower elos is quite possibly the most difficult way to climb since the other four roles have more direct ways to carry while the support generally has to carry indirectly. The exceptions to this are "support" supports like Brand, Vel, MF, and Zyra that basically build and play like a second bot lane carry with a sightstone. However, I would argue it's still easier to carry a game as mid lane Vel or Zyra or Brand or MF as opposed to support.
