Diamond Bard main here

Was genuinely excited to see how this was possible. Got me good.

Bard is actually good, he just requires good coordination

so solo queue is garbage for him

Its gonna be really ironic when we say this here, and next year theres gonna be someone in LCS using him :P and then everyone is gonna use him. Its just a matter of time...

The issue is his kit has such weak teamfight ultimate compared to the other supports

his ult has 3 general purposes for teamfighting: Ohmwrecker the enemy tower, so you can engage the teamfight under their tower. set up a hard to hit ability that has high impact (nunu ult. that's about all there is). The ability itself is hard to land due to the projectile speed and indicator before landing (meaning if you are going to try to use this to make landing nunu ult easier, you're better off picking a more reliable cc spell). zhonyas your team from big nukes/aoe damage. Except the problem is the cast time/projectile speed actually prevents this from being as useful as zhonyas. Imagine if it took 1 second after activating zhonyas to be put into stasis. That's what it's like to use Bard ultimate as a zhonyas. If you are using it do dodge a finisher jinx rocket, you need to see it well in advance to avoid it with tempered fate.

Looking at the other support ultimates: Soraka can heal everyone on her team for 300 hp (globally) Janna can heal the whole team for 500 hp (in a large aoe around her) Zilean can heal a guy for like 1000hp, and prevent them from dying once (which is a big deal, since if they spent their ultimates on killing that one guy, your ult just wasted a bunch of impactful big cooldown abilities) Alistar can tank the retaliation of 5 enemies after initiating Sona has an aoe stun Naut (apparently he's a support now) has a targeted knockup that can become an aoe knockup Nunu can slow both movespeed and (for some reason) attackspeed, nuke everyone for 600 damage, or otherwise force the enemy to cc him, and therefore not cc your adc Braum has an aoe knockup+slowfield Nami has small aoe knockup+slow, but with a much larger radius compared to Braum. The range is very large Karma can do a variety of useful things with mantra including:aoe shield + shurelias, aoe nuke, heal herself Thresh can nuke one guy for 200 damage, and throw out 5 99% slow that can all hit the same guy, or hit multiple enemies(his ult's a bit weaker, but at least it does damage and helps in the teamfight) Annie can aoe stun and do a lot of base damage (yay tibbers does usually about 400 damage from what I've seen) Vel'koz can do a lot of aoe damage (usually 50-100% of the enemy adc's hp) Blitzcrank can nuke everyone in an aoe for 200 damage, and silence them for .5 seconds Zyra has an aoe knockup that also does like 150 damage in a large aoe Taric can nuke everyone in a small aoe around him for 200 damage and give a nice damage increase aura Lulu can heal a guy for 300 hp, aoe knockup the people around them, and give them a slow field Fiddlesticks can do a lot of aoe damage (see vel'koz) Morgana can do like 300 damage in an aoe, then stun

And then of course there is Bard, who at level 6 get's to delay the teamfight by about 2 seconds with his non damaging ultimate. All the other supports at level 6 have huge impact teamfighting ultimates (as I've explained above). Then there's Bard, who's ultimate does zero damage, but unlike Sona, the people you stun are also invulnerable, so it's not like you get a few seconds of free damage. Zed comes out of the stasis and continues to ult your carry like he was going to before you ulted them. You can line up your Q stun, which optimally will stun 2 out of the 5 enemy champions.

Dang... I was actually hoping this was real so I could figure out what people are doing wrong...

How to make your LP go up:

1. Ask if someone is going to play Bard if you're first pick.
2. If they say yes, ban him.
3. If they say no, leave him.
4. If the enemy team picks him, enjoy the free win.
5. If your team picks him and you're not first pick, dodge.
6. Enjoy the free LP :) (Note: your LP WILL go up if you dodge when there's a Bard on your team)

Yesterday I saw interesting game style from Bard.

He disappeard to collect chimes and appearded with jungler from his magical jurney.

Needless to say, they lost.

First time seeing Bard being useful in laning phase but utterly useless in late game.

bard op, 2.5 sec stun on team giving your team enough time to run in and cast amumu or galio ult and have kat clear them all down.

I feel like he would be a lot better if his q had a charge system like velkoz w, or maybe if his little shrines did

You know, if bard had a decent base AD (like 55~60) he could be a fantstic support top laner.
