@meddler What is ADC role?

Sorry to bother you but i have been thinking this for a while and i can't find an answer.

What is ADC supposed to do?

Are they picked only since they do well against melee matchups?

Why are ezreal and Lucian picked in 70% of matches?

Did the pre-season update really help?

I was hoping to get answer to these since i can't really find out where the role of ADC is going?

The role of the attack damage carry is to provide consistent streams of damage in teamfights, or in other words, be your main source of DPS, that is to be protected at all times. If you are wondering "why isn't Yi and Jax considered an ADC then", it is because while they are a source of DPS, they are not the main one. They opt for better roles like jungler and top, where they perform much better. An advantage the ADC tends to have is the fact they are ranged. This is why you almost universally see a ranged ADC vs a ranged ADC. They are much safer attacking from a distance than other DPS sources.

ADCs are usually ranged carries. They basically stay in bot, try to get tons of cs, and beat the enemies in a 2v2 w ur support. ADCs are usually, in a perfect world, the greatest source of pure damage.

No, they are a vital part of your team comp that basically kites the fuck out of the enemy. The norm is to usually have an adc in bot lane.

Lucian is part of the current meta a.k.a FoTM. Ezreal, no offense, ain't too difficult, so he's easy to start with.

IMO, the update did.

Also, the role is pretty important, so it's pretty much required.

OK thanks for the answer.

So the meta is fine for the botlane marksmen. I felt like i had more pressure in season 4
