Aphelios has the potential to be worse than Akali, Ryze, and Azir combined

Akali is SO HOT·11/26/2019, 8:48:50 PM·30 votes·5,712 views

Just based on the kit alone there is close to a 0% chance he will ever get above a 50% winrate in solo q unless his numbers are mad hotfix tier. Additionally, his kit could end up just like the champions above where it is difficult to play for the average solo q player, but the pros will be able to utilize his super overloaded kit and make him broken in pro play.

Then, after he's done selling skins, he'll be nerfed repeatedly like Akali and friends until he's garbage in solo q and still overpowered in pro play and high elo for most of the year. Just the fact that they had to release a separate article attempting to explain how this guy works is already a bad sign. I don't see a bright future for Aphelios.

Well thing is, he'll be garbage in proplay as well because in the end he's just an auto attacker with different effects.

No mobility, No stealth and only one hard CC. All damage.

Why would pros pick him over Kai'sa or Xayah when they does the same thing but they have ways to deal with the burst around the map, I would say Kai'Sa is more overloaded than Aphelios lol.

He's going to have something like 38% winrate in Solo Q and at best a pocket pick in pro play

Okay, and he shouldnt be 50% unless its in Masters+ or something. He's going to be the true high skillcap champ of the game (That means you can pipe down with your "high skillcap" talks, Riven and Ryze) Ryze is strong, but his winrate doesnt show it. Azir is strong, but is a niche pick. Akali is ridiculously strong, and needs nerfs to her passive range and trade pattern.

Not sure the logic behind champions like this. He will be so complicated that he will either A. Be overpowered when played properly which is a problem in pro play or B. Not worth the trouble of learning because the pay off isn't high enough compared to just playing any other ADC

So what's the point?

Not really. He has built in item passives and primarily relies on auto attacks. Kaisa and Kled should be really difficult but they're analogous to other champs for the sake of relatability. Both have aspects modeled on Vayne actually (Violent Tendencies being an always-on Toggle on the W key like Silver Bolts, Kaisa having mobility + short range stealth)

Apherlios is NOT "broken". I don't care what some 5 clickbaiting youtubers who have played him only 3 times said. Did you see any dashes on his kit? Any untargetablility? Any guaranteed true damage executes? Lietrally every design that people massively claim to be problematic, Aphelios does NOT have. While he does have a very big kit, the way it is executed and not all accessible at all times, makes him possibly the most unique champion in the game, alongside Kayn. I would have been damn dissapointed if Aphelios was just another Vayne clone.

But, despite all of this, people like to jump on "bandwagons" and call everything new "BROKEN AND OP". Even though they know little about the champion's numbers and mechanics.

Please it´s not that bad, there will never (hopefully) be a champion worse than Ryze.

Azir is still miles behind my comparison, and Akali is similarly behind Azir.

New guy? I´d say he´ll be about as problematic as Sylas (still bad) in the sense that he´ll be a walking talking mystery that bewilders his team, his enemies and probably the player behind him equally while also having that fairly usual trope of having winrates that differ extremely depending on Elo.

But he will not be such a mess than even 7 reworks cant sort him out......or so do i sincerely hope.

he is actually good he is jhin tier on release day.

Honestly i don't think he'll be that problematic, his kit when you boil it down is really simple, he doesn't have E so he basically has 5 different Qs and an R, that's 6 abilities, not unlike Nidalee or Elise. The only difference is the different effects that R produces based on what weapon fired it as i understood, which won't really be a huge deal you'll more than likely get the same effect, killing your enemy , you're just going on differently about it.

And i don't think there will be a lot of disparity between pro play and solo q, i mean the abilities themselves aren't that complicated, you use the flamethrower for wave clear, pistol for lifesteal, rifle for poke, canon for slow and that last boomerang for styling on fools.

I guess most players will just poke with a rifle and then switch to boomerang or pistol if the enemy gets close that's all there is to it

Then, after he's done selling skins,

I dunno if that will happen. To me he seems kind of Zyra/Zac tier where it might be a little complicated to actually make consistent skins for him. He does have a lot of different weapon models / swapping to deal with, on top of his particle effects afterall.

ThunderCraft11/27/2019, 2:55:42 AM1 votes

i just tested him and he is extremely strong and not hard to learn.

ChargeItDownMid11/27/2019, 3:18:01 AM1 votes

Why? His skill floor isn't all that high. His q has a ton of variety but he gets so many passive stats that he will be completely fine if people just played him as a standard marksmen and don't worry about the exact q.
