League's Snowballing Problem

Before you read half of my post and start rage typing your comments, please at least read the whole thing. I've seen (and experienced myself) the anger and annoyance of how snowbally league has become, and I feel like I have found the solution. If they removed the gold granted from killing another player, like 90% of the snowballing in league would disappear. It would also put more emphasis on objectives. Say you kill your laner, instead of getting the gold from killing them, you would have to focus more on capitalizing on their death i.e. shoving waves, cs lead, getting objectives. This would allow for people to comeback, as they would simply need to just outplay their opponent, rather than have a gold --> stat deficit that makes it mathematically impossible for them to defeat their opponent. Additionally, this would require the player ahead to consistently play better than their opponent, since the opponent has plenty of opportunity to catch up. Also, often times your team member(s) get ahead and start playing sloppy, thinking "I'm ahead they can't stop me" and causing them to throw the game. This I feel would decrease the amount of players who get kill greed, and the "I'm ahead I can play sloppy" mentality that often ruins games for the people who are on the "Carrying/Fed" person's team. TLDR: removing the gold granted for a kill would require players to consistently outplay their opponent while allowing the opponent to comeback, decreasing snowballing

the biggest problem if this happens is that proxying, like singed, would have close to 0 drawbacks. Also it would give the jungler even more agency which a lot of people say that role has too much of already.

Removing the gold granted for a kill is a very effective way to do that, but I'd be worried about this change doing it's job too well and making people not worry about dying nearly as much or making them not feel rewarded for beating their opponent.

Any chance we could find a middle ground and do something like just nerf the gold gained from champion kills instead of outright removing it?

Not removing golds, but changing gold kill as the following :

Solo kill : 300 golds for you Kill with 1 assist : 200 golds for you, 100 golds for the assist Kill with 2 assists : 200 golds for you, 50 for each assist Kill with 3 assists : 200 golds for you, 33 for each assist Kill with 4 assists : 200 golds for you, 25 for each assist

If there was no gold granted from a kill, the game would turn into a farm fest every game and champions who would strive in that meta would be tanks. Honestly, the gold that you get from kills helps to keep the game interesting and it rewards you for good play.

Removing gold from kills, would be the most boring thing to the game. Oh guys im 10/0 with 200 cs compared to my enemy that just farmed in a side lane he is at 190 cs now. He is no stronger than I am! Nice!

I think a middle ground could be found. I think a lot of us can agree that you probably get too much gold right now. First Blood Gold, First Tower Gold. Gold, gold, gold, gold.

I don't think we need to remove gold from kills but can we nerf all this gold we already get that is a bit too much?

But I think Gold is only one of the issues that is plaguing League right now and would not fix everything that is contributing to Snowballing.

No they should be toning down or straight up removing gold from assists. Removing gold from kills is some hots casual care bear garbage and wouldn't improve the game.

This is a horrible idea and would lead to the downfall of league entirely.

OP, you're missing a very important point. The entire point of granting gold for kills. The point is that the earner of that kill, the one who expressed his skill, is now able to carry the game. That guy is now allowed to have a greater impact on the enemy bot lane, enemy mid lane, enemy top lane, all of them. Because he popped off. Thats something to keep in mind. Thats hwy you get gold for kills. To be relevant. To be able to carry. Now, if you ask me, ganks are too rewarding. A gank isnt a pop off. Theyre usually disgustingly easy, actually. Yet they reward MORE gold than a HARD EARNed solo kill. Hmmm. Imo, grant special gold for solo kill pre-15 minutes or something like that. Maybe, if 100% of the dmg was done by you. Truly 100 to 0 your opponent, earn bonus gold. I think that would be rad.

increase passive gold gain and reducing gold from kills be a nice change.

Then what's the point of lane bullies, they're basically a lot more worthless now unless you severely increase their ways to zone off cs

AirKingNeo12/22/2017, 12:48:35 PM1 votes

Nope. The issue is global snowballing. All you're doing is removing little global snowballing and almost all solo snowballing.
