Role Titles for Champion Mastery

I was trying to find anything on this, but is every champion locked into a specific role for champion mastery purposes? For example, if I play Sona as a mid lane mage consistently, is the champion mastery system going to give me the support role titles anyways instead of the mage ones even though I'm not playing Sona as a support? What is the point of the role titles in champion mastery if you get the exact same title as everyone else on a champion even if you are playing that champion in a different role than where it traditionally goes?
