Is it possible to be demoted from g5 or w/e to a previous tier? from losing

yes, your MMR just has to fall below the silver 5 level (ie bronze 1 level) and you would fall into silver 1, you would notice you gain little LP per win and you would lose a lot of LP when you lose.
its impossible to fall from silver 5, however you would still end up playing with other bronze 5 players.
