A brief history of power
We all knew that this would happen. We should have seen it coming back in season 5, the signs were obvious. The neverending conflict between AD's and AP's over power had swung far too much onto the AP's side. The AD's were desperate for options. So they made a pact with the Tanks. In a truce agreement, the AD's offered to lower their anti-tank powers in return for some magical defensive capabilities. And for a time, balance was restored. But, the AD's felt that balance wasn't enough, and that AD's should be the most powerful.
Using their agreement with the Tanks, they devised a plot to fully turn the power over to their side. The Tanks would ration the defensive capabilities for the AP's and would improve the AD's defensive powers as overall, and in return, would be granted new capabilities for offensive power.
But, there was another group. isolated from the conflict because they sided with neither the AD's or AP's fully, and hated the Tanks. This group was called the Assassins. The Assassins only interest was in keeping their ability to quickly kill their targets and escape before they can get attacked. When word got out that the AD's and the Tanks were joining forces against the AP's, the group split. Many of the AD's who joined the Assassins were elated by the news and quickly rushed to join the fight, eager to try out their new power. But, the opposite happened for the AP's in the Assassins. Out of concern for their own safety, they made a secret pact with the Tanks. The pact made it possible for AP based tanks to successfully display their full power, and in return the Tanks offered to teach the AP's on defensive strategy. And from this, a new breed of AP's were born. The Tank Mages.
Meanwhile, a neutral faction, whose only interest was in protecting their friends and providing combat support, decided to throw a wrench into the works. They started with the Tanks. The Supports, as they were called, showed their secret power they had developed. Two devices that would both generate income and allow for an extra strength in pushing towards objectives. Gratefully the Tanks accepted the gifts and offered to work on a way to assimilate some of the Support's technology so they would not have to be burdened by two separate items.
However, an unforeseen consequence arose. The Tanks' new tech was so powerful, that the AD's and the AP's especially decided that it was far too great a power. Many of the AP's even tried to use one of the devices but only managed to have success with it some of the time since it only was effective vs other AP's. After some time, a one time ceasefire was called between AD's and AP's with the sole objective of diminishing the power from the first of the two devices. They were successful, and the ceasefire was ended.
Currently the power is still on the side of the AD's and the Tanks, while the AP's struggle to fight back. The Assassins are split still but are managing fairly well with their AD power and tanky alternatives. The Supports still are just going with the flow of the game. Every once in awhile joining the main force, but mostly sticking to their typical roles on the battlefield.
