New Athenes will support less than the old one

Athenes is typically an item bought by AP carries, but it has its uses on AP supports and in ARAM its a very vital item for even hoping to stand a chance against people with infinite waveclear and sustain(Yasuo with warlords for example) that doesn't involve hogging all the health kits just because you want mana.

AP supports live and die by their mana pool, relying on actives is no support because even a Zed can buy a Mikaels and a Locket but that doesn't make him one. Sometimes shit hits the fan and there is no chance for backing, even if you know its what you should do, you gotta stick with your team and as such there are extended forays in the jungle.

For example, a main one I can think of is Nami. Tear is simply not an option, but Athene's was great. Rack up the assists, you get to keep some juice flowing and continue to be an asset to your team. That constant mana regen and the mana upon assists was invaluable and honestly was the reason I bought it over Morellonomicon even if the enemy had no AP and knowing that Athene's has lower AP. This is just a very underwhelming change that I am not looking forward to.
